Not Able To Connect To The Network
 

:confused: I AM A NEW USER. I DON'T EVEN HAVE LIMEWIRE INSTEAD I AM HELPING SOMEONE WHO DOES. DON'T KNOW IF THAT IS GOING TO CHANGE THE OPINION OF THIS THREAD...I HOPE NOT...PLEASE ANSWER THIS:
In limewire i know that there is the Gnutella Network. The firewall at this school wireless network seems to be blocking proxy sites. So therefore I think that it blocks the network as well. If it does i have tried to change the network on this laptop. That doesn't seem to work for this firewall. If the wireless network is the school's own does that mean that the firewall interferes with the laptop's or something? I need to get connected. I can wait a couple of days or hours but please respond ASAP.
I have tried to change the IP address of the things as well. The connection is taking forever and ever so i don't think that it is even able to connect to the network. Please HELP!:(

If the test doesn't work, it means that LW's default port is blocked.

Make sure that any software firewall (remember, only use 1) is configured properly

If the school is blocking p2p (lots do, because p2p uses a lot of bandwidth) then there's not a lot you can do. If proxies aren't working it doesn't sound too promising. You'll need to talk to the school's computer admin & find out what the policy on p2p use is.

Almost all wireless devices have internal NAT firewalls. The normal idea would be to enable UPnP on the device or forward a port. Unfortunately you don't have such access to the device. If proxies aren't working then I'm not sure of an option. Most schools deliberately block p2p programs nowadays because it uses up so much bandwidth.
