I can connect but not download
 

I can connect to the network (I get 5 connections...does anyone get any more than that) and I can search and get plenty of results but then I cannot download. Why is this? This even happens on multiple, 83 different possibilities? Does anyone else have this problem and what did you do about it? Exactly what kind of setup do I need for Limewire? I mean regarding proxies and firewall, etc. I need someone to explain it to me as I am lost via the FAQ or user guide.

If you don't see the small brick wall in front of the globe in the bottom left corner, then you do not have a firewall problem.

You either have chosen files with many hosts (20 up to several hundreds), which are most likely faked files hosted by people or groups trying to discourage P2P users from downloading copyright protected files, or you have a corruption in the LW preference folder.
To fix this, delete this folder as explained in Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire:

:confused: When I try to download, it stays on connecting, but I've already cleared out my preferences folder, and I do not have the brick wall in front of the globe, so I guess that rules out firewalls

yes this is my problem, what can i do to fix it

sorry not about not enough info
it's just that LW has worked before and is not currently able to download
there is no firewall and both LW and java are current;
it is definitely a new prob with a somewhat experienced user
the simple test also "worked"
what do you need to know now to help me?
