![]() I tried downloading LimeWire basic last night. I couldn't use the 'recommended' installer, so I chose the 'offline' one and it finally installed just fine...kinda... I'm able to open up LimeWire, but when I try to search for anything, nothing ever appears. It searches for at least 3 minutes, but when the lime stops spinning, no results show up. I'm new to LimeWire, but I've read all the FAQs and User Guides, etc and I've read most of the threads on this forum, and I've made sure that my firewall is granting Full Access to LimeWire...so I don't know what's wrong. And to make matters worse, after less than an hour of having LimeWire running, I received this error message multiple times (it popped up over 100 of the exact same error message. No matter how many of the error message windows I closed, more and more kept popping up until I exited out of LimeWire): "LimeWire is unable to connect to hosts on the Gnutella network. This is most often due to firewalls or content0filtering software blocking access to Gnutella (port 6346). Please review your firewall’s options to allow LimeWire to access the Gnutella network or speak to your system administrator or ISP to determine if Gnutella traffic is being filtered." Now, like I said, my firewall (McAfee) has granted LimeWire Full Access, so I don't know what to do. Your help would be much appreciated. Last edited by KittenTNS; September 5th, 2006 at 02:20 PM. |

![]() I'm guessing you're using XP. Did you disable your XP firewall if you're running McAfee? The problem might be your modem/router. If it supports UPnP then make sure it's enabled, or if it's a poor upnp implementation or none at all then forward a port; check the sections here Connection problems? Check here first! ![]() Thank you for the help, Lord of the Rings. Yes, I am using XP, but my XP firewall was disabled. Also, my UPnP is enabled. But after asking around here, I believe my problem lies in my school's firewall, which I don't have access to. In fact, I've opted to uninstall LimeWire because my college will revoke my rights to use their network if such a program exists on my computer. Thanks again for your time and advice, and I apologize for any inconvenience. |
