Ottifant: Yeah, I knew how to do that, but thanks anyways. I have turned it off before but the brick wall still appears in front of the globe. And I don't even know if I have Norton Firewall or not.

Also, something I haven't thought about: I have AOL Parental Controls on my screenname. I have the Mature Teen setting. It lets me go to limewire.com no problem, so I wouldn't think it had anything to do with the application being blocked, but I still wanted to throw that out there.

Someone plz help me I still have the brick wall.....

I just discovered that Windows Firewall is the only firewall I have, and even when I turn it off I have the brick wall. *scratches head*

Parental control

I have never really used this, or been blocked by this myself, but I would think that any P2P-program will be blocked from usage as it is just one more way of retrieving porn or ***ually explicit imagery and stories.

Limewire doesn't have Parental Control, just filters which anyone can turn on and off as they prefer. If you are a Mature Teen, as you say you have rights for, ask your parents (or admin) to allow you to use Limewire. If they are sceptic to what you may be searching for, you might allow for some rules, ie. saying when you are using the program, and allowing them access to where the computer is so they are able to check what you are downloading. Or other rules, like only using it when they unlock it, etc etc. The spesifics you really have to get straight on your own.

To me it doesn't sound like it's a problem with either firewall or connection when you mention this, but a program controlling the connection in much the same way as a fire-wall (denying access).

If this doesn't work, post back.

Hmmmm... well I am not blocked from limewire.com itself, the website, so I don't even know how to get them to allow me access, and I'm sure my parents won't know how.

Parental Control

As I said, I haven't used such programs, but this much I know:

You can block the connection (not getting on-line at all without a password), you can block spesific programs (Limewire being one), block a group of defined programs (P2P, downloaders, IRC, etc), block spesific web-sites, or block anything that has spesific words in them.

You may be allowed to surf the Web and even visit Limewire-site and download the program in a web-browser, but you are not allowed to use Limewire since this is a whole new dimension to using the Net.

If they don't know what to do, read the manual. Sit down with them on the computer and make the modifications yourself, under their supervision, to allow Limewire to use the connection when you are using the computer.

If you don't get this to work, tell us which program you are using for parental control. If needed, I will download it and see if it can be altered. Be spesific though, a version number of the program is always a good help.
