![]() First of all let me say I signed up today for Limewire. The system I run on is Window XP with SP2 installed. I also have McAfee firewall installed...This is my story, after everything was downloaded I went in and did some searching, everything worked fine for about 30 minutes or so. At this time if I put anything in the search topic it did nothing except give me an error message, stating Active internet connection or firewall is blocking limewire from internet. So I went to my Mcafee and shut down my firewall, still nothing and my Microsoft firewall that came with the computer is also shutdown and still I get the error messages and nothing....Any help would be appreciate. P.S not very computer savey so your going to have to walk me through each step.....Thanks |

![]() Ok, after doing some reading around I understand I need to install the 4226 patch for SP2, my question is this still true with the newest edition from Lime Wire..If so how do you install it, didn't understand the thread someone posted..Also if I still need to add ports 6346 for TCP and UDP, how? Thanks |

![]() You should only have one active software firewall, so choose between XP firewall & McAffee (you should have at least one FW active for your own protection!) Then configure it as described here Firewall configuration instructions (click on link) The SP2 patch I've never used personally because I don't have XP. ![]() BTW if you still see a brick wall in front of the blue globe icon at the bottom of LW's interface then the issue might be your modem/router (many of which have internal NAT firewalls.) |

![]() I only have McAffee firewall installed, the configuration is for (web site) XP, will it also work for McAffee? I understand I need to install the SP2 patch but I don't understand how to do it, web site was no help. Also with the firewall off I no longer have the brick wall infront of the globe, but still unable to use. |

![]() The McAffee link was at the bottom of the page but it seems they have changed the address. Use this one http://ts.mcafeehelp.com/?siteID=1&resolution=1024x768, choose model & configure to allow port option. Add port 6346 for both TCP & UDP. However, you may have problems if you run both McAffee & XP firewalls. Most FW makers recommend against using 2 at same time. |
