Default need help fixing da brick wall

You guys have helped before...very helpful. Ok so I have the brick wall today for first time that I noticed...can't dwnld...always stopped after trying to connect saying need more sources. Also, did speed test and found myself 85% slower than national Qwest customer.

So now you know Qwest DSL is isp.
I run windows XP...have already dinked with the windows firewall and added gnutella. Not sure how to check for other firewalls onboard.

I don't know how to check for amount of ram. Is that necessary for this issue? I also don't know how to check for hard disk space available...but when I last defrag'd I had something like 12.19GB free space and 36% freespace (by the way...I think that this might be bad! I've already added ram...but tower is pretty small I don't think I can cram anymore in there.
I use
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Well, when I access modem from control panel....I see Agere Systems PCS soft modem...maybe the serial is PCI\VEN_11C1&DEV_048C&SUBSYS_044C11C1&REV_03
7. trying to connect from home
8. LimeWire basic & Sun Java

Thanks for anyhelp you guys throw my way....If I left anything out le'me know...k?

How many green connection bars do you see?
If it's only some downloads that aren't connecting (rather than your LW not connecting), you might be seeing fake files. There are lots around & they'll sit connecting forever but won't download. Search again, vary your search terms, try the All Types search. Stay away from files with loads of sources, try a file with 10 sources or less or even a file with a single modem source. For video files, use Bitzi to check the file before download
How to use Bitzi

For your firewall problem, read through the sticky below. It has lots of info.
Connection problems? Check here first!
Make sure you're only using 1 software firewall & that it's configured properly. Do you use an external modem or router (the one you've listed sounds like an internal one)? If you've got an external device, it's probably got it's own internal firewall & sometimes these can cause problems. For more info, read through the parts in the sticky about enabling UPnP & port forwarding.

Hey Birdy, thanx 4 the reply. Looks like I have all the green bars lit up and available. What is a good file size for video? Thanks for directing me to the bitzi sticky, good info. I believe the modem I am using is internal, because everything is inside my tower and came that way when I bought it.

I do have an ethernet box for my Qwst DSL that I use to get connected, but I don't think that is a modem, or my problem. I am going to be changing my isp soon though, cuz I am aprox 85% slower than nation avarage qwst user right now! I think that has alot to do with what is going on cuz there are certain times when downloads are prolific and lightening fast to dwnld! Other times I get nottin and 1kb or slower or nothin at all. Who knew my desire to acquire music and stuff would lead to a better techi-ness in puters, huh? I don't mind cuz it is fun. Thanks for your repy ~J
