![]() Hi all! I've been using LW basic without problems for about 2 yrs. Now I'm connecting through college LAN from college dorm. The first couple of times it worked, but lately when i start LW i only get 1 bar and cant even search for anything. Gnutella is enabled on the LAN exactly as specified in the instructions. I've tried switching ports too: it works for a few minutes (I get 3-4 bars), but then i'm back to square one. What can i do? Pls drop some wisdom on me!!!! 1. OS version: WinXP Pro 2. What firewalls you have: just windows firewall 3. How much ram: 1024 MB 4. Hard Disk space available? 30+ GB 5. Connection type: campus broadband 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers: Marvell Yukon 88E8053 PCI-E Gigabites 7. Where are you trying to connect from: campus dorm room 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have: LW 4.12.6 and java 1.5.0_03 9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? campus LAN 10. Go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!': Yes 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. 12. Is this a your 1st try at FW or is this a new problem with an experienced user: see above 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of FW's interface: Yes |

![]() Are other people in the dorm able to use LW (or any other p2p app)? Heaps of schools block p2p use. Did you ever use LW at college before (you said you've used it for 2 yrs but was that at college or at home)? You might need to find out what the school's policy on p2p use is. The computer/network admin should be able to give you details. Check out the links below, there's some info about proxies. No guarantees that it would work though, if your school's anti-p2p http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showpo...72&postcount=2 ![]() |

![]() Well, this is the first time I use LW in a dorm, but it worked the first couple of times i used it in the dorm. It also works for a few minutes if I switch ports and then it goes back to one bar. I'll check with others in the dorm and let u know. Thanx 4 the help! |

![]() Well, I have spoken to some people and it's the university is blocking LW from connecting. I hoped I'd find a way around it but people say they've tried anything without success. ![]() |
