![]() sorry guys but i haven't found anything that covers my problem. I have been able to use LimeWire on many occasions, but now my connection will not fully load which is not letting me download anything. I've checked my firewall, even turning it off to see if that wouldfix the problem, but still not making all of my bars turn green. oh yeah and even though i had the firewall turned off for a moment, the firewall was still shown in front of the globe. What has happened? Last edited by tadsdad; September 25th, 2006 at 12:31 PM. |

![]() Check out the thread below, it's full of info about connection & firewall problems:wink: Connection problems? Check here first! Make sure you're only using 1 software firewall & that it's configured properly. If you're connecting through a modem or router, these usually have their own internal firewall...that might be what LW's detecting. In that case, read the info about enabling UPnP & port forwarding. Do the port test & see if it works. What's changed since you were able to connect (new ISP, internet plan, hardware etc)? Have you started using a new version of LW? If you're still stuck, post back with your details. Post 2 of the thread above will tell you the info we need ![]() |

![]() Thanks Birdy for the reply. I'm getting ready to go clear my head.***** I'm not sure if it has worked since i loaded the new version, however i am using the new version on a cable modem running through a Belkin wireless router. I have gone as far as turning off my firewall (avg) and when i checked my windows firewall, i'm guessing the reason it won't let me do anything is because it's not turned on. I'm running xp home, Is this giving you anymore information to help, anyway thanks, i'm going to walk outside for a few minutes before my laptop goes flying across the room :-} |

![]() Belkin (from what I hear) has unreliable UPnP. You could try portforwarding Remember to set up a static IP. Also remember that the listening port and the forwarded port should be the same number. Preferably one in the 50000 to 65000 range eg. 64049 Find your specific make and model here and then choose Limewire. You will get instructions on how to do this www.portforward.com |

![]() please a little more info on the port forwarding. What does that mean to my comp. will it be causing anything different to any of my other modems/routers that i use. I do use LW more from this connection but don't want to mess up something from another connection.other words i'm completely lost. also what;s the deal with thee "static IP" |

![]() To answer your question about other routers. Yes it's very likely, but there is a workaround. I'm guessing that you use wireless to connect to all routers/modems. You will need to set up your Networkcard twice and have both disabled at startup. Meaning you set up a new connection with a static IP that your Belkin router will accept. To find these numbers. Connect like you do normally and then go to Start>Run then type cmd in the box and press enter. Now type ipconfig /all and press enter. A list will show up after doing this. If you have more than one networkconnection then one will show for each. Write down the following IP address Subnet Mask Default Gateway DNS servers then type exit and press enter And now I'm stuck because I don't have a computer with Danish Windows + I never tried it myself. This is the best way though. Alternatively you could change these between automatic and adding these things everytime you use Limewire. You could try that to see if it works, and if it does then figure out how to setup the new networkcard like I tried to explain before |
