![]() everytime i open up limewire a box pops up saying that "your machine does not appear to have an active internet connection or a firewall is blocking limewire from accessing the internet. Limewire will automatically keep trying to connect you to the network unless you select "Disconnect" from the file menu". I am using my laptop and I have an active internet connection so I am at a loss as to why I cannot download any music files. Is there anyone out there who can help to make this problem go away. What do i need to do to reset these firewalls or what firewalls are blocking me from using limewire??? I am getting frustrated that i cannot use limewire.... |

![]() Firewalls are designed to stop traffic over certain ports from coming in or going out. So like some online games & video conferencing, the firewalls must be configured to allow the program access or for a port to be opened. See more about it in the 2 posts here Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link) |

![]() what do i do if that test thing doesnt load up. it says done but doesn't say "the test worked" why is it that it worked like 2 days ago with al the same settings on my laptop and connection, and now it just stays on starting connection? thanks for your time, it seems like this must get really annoying for you folks. x |

![]() Good question. Not sure. Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) Most likely step 3 if you only recently started using LW. That failed test means something is blocking port 6346. Hopefully it's not your ISP & simply a temporary misdemeanor by your connection device. If after deleting your LW prefs folder there's no improvement, can you please answer the questions here http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showpo...91&postcount=2 |
