OMFG HOW CAN I BUT SO STUPID there is a freaky router right on top of my other comp... its connected so both computers share the same internet. oh my god how can i be so stupid when it was there the whole time name of model should be d-link and the DI-604 |
Hehehe, might be getting somewhere now:wink: Just remember though, if there is some throttling from your ISP, getting rid of the firewall problem's not going to magically make your speeds jump up! First of all try enabling UPnP within the router. Once you've done that, within LW go tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Check the 'use UPnP' option & apply. You might have to give it a while before the firewall icon goes away. If you're not sure about how to enable UPnP, have a look through the link below. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...LinkDI604.mspx If enabling UPnP doesn't work, you could try port forwarding. Click on the link below for a guide. Don't forget to set up a static IP address first, you'll see a link for that within the guide. Once port forwarding's in place, again give LW some time to settle down & wait to see if the firewall icon goes away. http://www.portforward.com/english/r...4/Limewire.htm |
i tried both ways and when i get somewhere i already see that my router has already been done.. i mean like when i did the d-link thing the UpNp thing was already enabled.... so if my router is already configured so why is the brick still there |
If UPnP's not working, double check the way that you set up port forwarding. those portforward.com guides are normally really good. Did you set up a static IP first? Otherwise p/f won't work. Did you make sure to 'save & reboot' if that's part of your router's instructions? If you're using p/f now rather than UPnP, restart LW...see if the wall goes away. Remember that the listening port & port you've forwarded have to be the same number. |
i did forward my port and when i opened limewire the brick was still there so i left it there for an hour and its stil there |
I use a D-Link 504G. When you forward a port in the device, be sure to save settings & reboot the router. Otherwise settings won't have been saved properly. Also, it's best to do a separate port forward for each of UDP & TCP. Also did you set up a static ip. That's most important. If you're using LW on 2 different computers on the same router, you'd need to do a separate port forward for each computer & 'must' use a different port number. AFAIK Your model does support UPnP however I've had report from another or 2 that it doesn't work well. It may require firmware update to get this option anyway. FYI here was my original instructions for port forwarding the D-Link 504G but these instructions were for Mac; http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...highlight=504g |
is the static ip the ip adress of you comp?????? also on the page where you setup the static ip.. i dont know which is the static ip |
When you typed ipcongig/all into the command box & all those things like IP address, default gateway, DNS Servers etc showed up....that's the info to use when setting up your static IP. Once you're into the Internet Protocol properties page (via clicking on Network Connections etc), put the IP address that you first saw in the command info. |
thx but forget it this is to ***..... im just wondering how do i connect to my isp |
Sorry but I'm not sure what you mean about connect to your ISP. I'd contact them by phone. ???? If you're getting a bit lost with the static IP don't panic. Are you using the directions from portforward.com? http://www.portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htm Follow them, get to the stage where you have all that info showing in the black command page, then copy it somewhere or print it. That way, you can have all the info at hand when you go to do the static IP setup & it'll hopefully not be too confusing. |
