I don't know whether your device supports UPnP. Telnet into it to find if there's a UPnP option. If yes, then enable it, save settings, relaunch LW. Telnet address is probably either 192.168.1.254 or http://192.168.1.254

If there is no UPnP option then forward a port. Find your model here in the left column under Billion http://portforward.com/routers.htm Most important step is setting up a static ip.

All wireless devices have internal NAT firewalls. That's why a port needs to be opened so LW can access through it. Once you've done this, your port test for http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ should work & your brick wall icon for LW should disappear.

Ouch a wrt54g. Linksys are very good, but the 54 series have firmware problems & are unreliable. Is yours running in UPnP mode or port forwarded or neither? Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link). Probably best to portwarded that model linksys device http://portforward.com/routers.htm Unless you want to try to change the firmware with some risky mucking around http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...843#post196843

Are you using USB or ethernet cable between your device & computer? If USB, then if you have an ethernet card, change over to ethernet as USB struggles with internet cable bandwidth. If no ethernet card, then make sure your USB cable is the only one connected to that port (not others like keyboard, printer, etc.)

I don't know where your firewall issue is coming from. AFAIK your device is simply a cable modem. I wonder if your ISP is responsible. You could try changing listening port. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls & change the listening port to one between 49152 - 65535 such as 64049. Press apply.
