Unable to stay connected Totally new at this stuff, not to mention....confused Hope someone can help. I get connected but, limewire won't stay conncected AAHHHHH! I'm not sure what router I have and I do not understand what a linksys is or if I should update firmware(what ever that is). I like Limewire and just want it to stay connected for more than a minute. My firewall says it's disabled thru windows. I don't show a firewall when I have Limewire running. I also do not get a zone pop up (read somewhere in your forums). I have mcafee and it doesn't have a firewall because I am cheap and do not want to pay for it. I currently have windows xp on my Hp computer at home. I am overwhelmed by the forum reguarding connections for limewire (actually printed out some of it). Can someone please email easy directions on how to fix this? Much appreciated I think I might be better one on one with someone instead of reading all the different threads. Thanks |

[B]Ok, I have windows xp 2002 home edition. The firewall I have (that I am aware of) is windows firewall. I have 448mb of ram. I think I have 47% space avail. I looked in my defrag window for that? My connection is dialup because I live in the country. My modem appears to be an hp pavillion 725n but, I'm not sure of the router because sadly I don't know exactly what that is? Where do I fine model numbers? Your link requests that on #6. I connect from home. My limewire pro version is 4.12.4 and java is 1.5.0_07. AOL 9.0 is my internet provider but, I click on and use mozilla firefox to get into this web page. The test link says "your test worked!" when I click on it. I don't share a connection but, I have kazaa on my computer. I haven't used it since I was told about limewire which was ages ago. This seems to be an old problem with an unexperienced user. No, I do not see the brick wall in front of the blue world icon. What do I do? |
