Lime Wire shuts down.

This has happened loads of times guys and no I havn't clicked exit after transfer. It happens at random, in the middle, begining etc.. So what is it? Does it have something to do with what I'm downloading. Does limewire automaticlly close if it's not downloading (I don't think so) I download stuff at night because it is so slow and slows down my comp considerably. And almost every morning I find that it has shut down at some point during the night. But it has happened infront of my very eyes, no warning, no erroe reports, nothing.Just........!........:yikes:
Anyone help?
:bangh:

Try these things:

1. Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue!

2. Keep your shared file tally to 2,000 or below. Are you using an external device to share files? If yes, the problem might be related to this. I had problems with sharing from my external drive.

3. Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.)

4. Try the other steps in the link above. Remove all earlier versions of Java & reinstall using the latest version. But only install usng the "Offline" Java installer which is about a 16 MB download.

5. Don't use the Resume/Find Sources on all your currently downlding files at once. If you use this function, apply it to only 1-3 at a time.

6. Defragment your computer hard disk drives. And use a file utility to check there's no problems with any files on your system or with directories & folders & drives, etc.

Ummm, I found that one of the files was corrupted so that could have been why it happened this time.
Where do I get that bigger file of java? Their website only gives the smaller 7mb version although I havn't delved into their archives. My file sharing is set at 1 as it's takes forever to download anything. I have never had a connection above 30 kbs. So anything that can speed it up would be appreciated.
So probably a corrupt file as I am using an internal HD and I know my setting are ok.
Thanks and great avitar!

Go here & choose "Offline" version Java 1.5 (take the JRE)

Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 9
The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications.

Windows Platform - J2SE(TM) Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 9
Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language jre-1_5_0_09-windows-i586-p.exe 15.74 MB (1st on list)

It's actually the same size but instead of installing over the internet, you're installing from your computer because all the information is already within the installer. It's much safer to install this way. It prevents corrupted installations. But remove your other Java versions 1st using your Add/Remove Programs control panel.

Why does Limewire says FireWall is not detected.

Sorry. Mis-Posted. Wrong Place to post.

If you're not seeing the firewall icon (brick wall), it's a good thing. Means that LW hasn't detected an unconfigured firewall.

It doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with your firewall, or that it's not turned on...just that it's not causing a problem for LW;)
