Problems Connecting I have tried changing proxies and all of that good stuff and nope, nothing is working. I am at a library where the only available connection is the one I'm on. It still says "Starting Connection" in the bottom. I've logged on and off, I've turned off my firewall, I've enabled everything and I am still stuck. I've no idea what to do, and it's really irritating me. I'm not sure if it's just this ISP or what, but I've only got dial up and home and I reallllly don't want to have to download from there. Here's what I know: 1. OS version? XP Professional SP2 2. What firewalls you have? Just the basic Windows 3. How much ram? Not sure 4. Hard Disk space available? 88% 5. Connection type? Wireless 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Not sure 7. Where are you trying to connect from? Library 8. What version of LimeWire & Java do you have? LW 4.12.6 Pro & Java 2 9. Who is your ISP provider? Library as of now, only shown as Clevenet 10. It says it cannot be displayed 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? Yes, its an automatic connection with no password. 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. 1st try 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes |
Have you asked any of the staff whether the library allows you to use p2p from there? You might find that it's against policy. Many schools block p2p because of high bandwidth use...maybe your library does the same thing. |
