please help...im, by now, after trying for 2 hours, pisst off, cause i paid for this, and its not loading, i already checked my norton antivirus setup for allowing the firewall thing, and did the same for the windows xp firewall. Now, according to limewire instructions with connections problems for the windows xp firewall, besides the ip address which i got, i have to put a port number...which is under tools and.....inside limewire, but since i cannot get it to load up, i cannot get the port number....please help, im getting sick of this and i've been a member for what....3 hours now?

Also do you have Norton AV or Norton firewall? "If" norton firewall, then disable XP's firewall & enable Norton firewall instead. Otherwise they'll clash & you'll end up with less security & problems with LW also. You can disable XP firewall in your control panels. For norton see Configuring Norton Internet Security

4. Hard Disk space available? 100 GB
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) -cable
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? lynksys
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? house
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 4.13.0 (download it today) JAVA, how do i check that??
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? Cable Magico (peru)
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? It does say, your test worked
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. Yes, im sharing the connection with the home pc. Mine is a laptop....
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. I just bought the programs and downloaded it, now 4 hours ago
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? i cannot open the interface at all....

It makes alarmbells go off in my head when you use plural. Limewire is a single program and if you bought some kind of membership package with movie codec pack, antispyware etc. then you have been scammed

Java can be checked by going to Start --> Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs

You will find it on the list there.

Also we need more than just Linksys. Model number as well

Went to control panel, add or remove programs, and there is no JAVA anything anywhere........

Make sure your Linksys is UPnP enabled; see the 2nd section about 1/4 way down this page: Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link)

Download this Java version: http://java.sun.com/javase/6/download.jsp JRE "Offline" version. Go to your control panel, remove "all" versions of Java you have. Reboot after each removal. Then install the "offline" Java 1.6

ok, i downloaded the java, and now the program does load....the problem now is that it doesn't seem to be connecting, it says, connecting connecting and nothing, i try to search a song and it doesn't find anything. I haven't been able to make sure my linksys is UPnP enable...i went to the 192.168.1.1 to check, but it doesn't let me in, i don't know what the username is....i put admin as the password...but don't know what to put as a username.....

at least now that the program did at least open, i found the port number and put it on the settings of my network connections. But still, the program does not seem to connect....

hopefully we are quite close to get all set up...i just want to download some music...thanx for all your help

i bought it from the website itself...but i was worried i couldn't do anything, then bit by bit and with the help of all of you, it finally works...i didn't get to check the PnP thing...but changed the configuration to windows 2000, downloaded java, and was still not working, thats when i sent my last message.

i decided to give it one more shot before giving up and restarted the computer, restarted the program, and now it works!! and it is extremely fast...so
