Connection Problems Problems getting the LimeWire or WireShare program connecting to the Gnutella network.
(not about connecting to files, that is a Download/Upload Problems section issue.) Please supply system details as described in the forum rules.

windows firewall blocking limewire hey everyone ok.........i got limewire (not the pro) and it worked pretty great .......a month after i got it booooooom stop working it wont even open ......you click on the icon on the descktop and this annoying message appears! its says limewire wont open because of firewall and or a loopback connection .......so I then go make sure limewire is set as an exception (in firewall), and it is....but it still wont work..... so then i think turning of firewall then it would work........ but it wont..........so i erase limewire completely then install it again..... and still wont work ------so can someone please please please heeeeeeeeeeeelp me? |

firewall or loopback connection blocking limewire 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) windows XP 2. What firewalls you have? windows firewall 3. How much ram? dont know 4. Hard Disk space available? have no clue 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) i think dialup 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? where do you get them 7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? house 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. wont open at all 9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? at&t 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? it said it worked... 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. nope 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. 1st try 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? no it wont even open a message pops up |

I have been trying 1. OS version? Vista 2. Windows 3. 2 gig 4. 234 gigs free 5. Connection type broadband 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Speed Stream 6520 7. Where are you trying to connect from …house 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (4.13.3 Lime wire beta) Java 6 update 1 9 whois your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? Aliant 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? It said your test worked 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. 2 other home computers are able to run they are using windows xp. I also have Azeurs on this PC. 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. First time trying to install with Vista on this new PC I have used LW with another pc and Windows XP 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Can not get that far into program , No I cannot get that far, I have tried shutting down windows firewall I get the message that LW is being block by a firewalll or looped back can you help please… Window firewall is close and am running the Pc Tools fire wall.. Have done the Steps 1,2 and 3 as descriped in this form. |

katheirne...Try these fixes... Try uninstalling your Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE offline version....(4th one down) Java SE Downloads Then uninstall Limewire using the uninstaller which is found in start > all programs > limewire...then re-install it using the offline installer... Rommeldog... This may help with your PC Tools firewall.... PCTools Firewall and Vista? [Archive] - PC Tools Community Forum Also once that is configured properly, you also have a Nat Firewall and will more than likely need to open up a Port for Limewire... These are your instructions to Port Forward... Port Forwarding for the Siemens Speedstream-6520
