Have you tried to portforward your router. The link below is instructions for portforwarding your router it does have a firewall in it.

I called Aliant who are my service provider and they told me my 6520 Sieman router does not have any type of fire wall , I was wondering this as the other 2 computers that my son's have are using this same router , they are having no problems using LW. the only difference is that they are using XP and I am using Vista. When I looked at my router it did not match the Router that I was seeing following the link provided.

Evidently your ISP doesn't know what they are talking about. Or you don't have a Siemens speedstream 6520. The link below is the specks on the 6520 and it does have a NAT firewall in it.

Default Conncection problem

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) - XP
2. What firewalls you have? - Windows and Norton
3. How much ram? 512
4. Hard Disk space available? 10GB
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Broadband
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Dlink DSL-200
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? House
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. LW 4.12.11 and Java 1.5.0-11 have also tried java 6 but didn't make any difference
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)?Dodo (I'm in Australia)
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Test worked
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. No
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. New problem, experienced user.
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/attach...1&d=1158099342
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled?

Have been through this topic and have tried most things mentioned, Have changed Java, have deleted LW prefernces, have turned all firewalls off. Done a little research into my modem and read that it doesn't have router. Nothing seems to work can open LW but only has one bar green. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can't find that number anywhere in the add/remove programs so probably don't have it.

OK...That's ruled out...

Check with these instructions to make sure you have your Norton and Limewire configured together properly..
Port Forwarding for the Norton Internet Security 2007

If it still wont connect try these fixes....

Right-click the Limewire icon and going to properties and change compatability setting to Windows 2000. (but only if you're using Windows 2000 or later.) Somebody reported changing to Windows NT compatibility fixed their problem despite not using that operating system version.

Right-click on the Limewire icon on the desktop and click on Run as. Then it should come up showing the current user and then switch it over to Administrator. (but 'only' if you're the admin of your comp.!)
