Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of FW's interface? Yes Hope I've answered these satisfactorily. If not, please let be gentle! |
I've never heard of F-Secure. If you're using a 3rd party firewall, then disable XP's firewall: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...842#post178842 |
Also the Thomson Speedtouch modems have the Nat firewall built in... Lotr, This is what happened to UK Bob and his instructions ended up being the same as mine, although he had a different model number to what I had... |
Can you quote the instructions here then? Please, please ... lol :buttkick: :kiss2: |
Yep no worries, lmao... This is the instructions for my model, now if your modem looks like this one when you log into it, follow this guide to the T, there is a part at the end I can help you with if you get stuck, but we will have to be on at the same time to discuss this step by step... http://www.portforward.com/english/r...6/Limewire.htm If your modem doesn't look like this, try these instructions... http://www.portforward.com/english/r...l/Limewire.htm |
Lord of The Rings. F-Secure is Finnish. Website can be found at www.f-secure.com. It came packaged with my broadband. The Windows XP firewall is disabled. Thanks for all the rest of the advice. I'll check it out and get back to you later. |

People, I followed the instructions on the link posted by Wondering Why. I got stuck at "enter the IP address of your router" but wen I went back to Limewire it was Turbo Charged and the brick wall had been demolished. I'm not sure at which point the wall was bulldozed but I suspect it was the entry of the static IP address information. Many, many thanks to you all. :aweof: |
That's excellent, whatever happened you got it to work, so that's great.... |
Hi WW and Hobo Although this thread is finished, the problem has been solved, I just want to throw in a little bit of extra info. 1) The Thompson 330 modem is a USB modem, not a modem router, and does not have a firewall. I used to have 330 when I was with Virgin, my former ISP, this high speed modem has always been a pleasure to use as it requires no setting up or configuration it is simply just plug and play. 2) F-Secure, as far as I am aware, as always been used primarily by large office establishments I have worked in, it has not until recently been seen as a product for home users. However, I see now that they have moved into the Small Office/Home Office (SoHo) market. 3) How using a static IP address to make the 330 usb modem/F-Secure combination work is a mystery because the modem does not require the installation of an IP address. I can only guess that there is more to configuring F-Secure's firewall than other SoHo firewalls, possibly betraying its "industrial strength/large organisation" roots. UK Bob |
