Default Can't connect to Internet

Last night I downloaded Limewire. Everything was running perfect. I could download songs, connect to the internet and surf around, etc. Now, this morning, and all day today, when I click on the internet explorer icon, I continually get the message "cannot find server." So, I decided to uninstall Limewire. When I restarted the computer, one of the two limewire desktop icons was still present. And I still found various traces of limewire throughout my pc. I even found files that were modified last night when I downloaded it. So I am left thinking that there are still traces of limewire left even after a "complete" uninstall because I still cannot connect to my internet server. That, or limewire modified other files on my pc that were used to connect to the internet while it was installing itself, and now that I have uninstalled it, somehow that has messed up my internet connection.

I am running norton internet security, but I think that it would have caused that same interference last night if Norton was the suspect for the problem. I am also using a wireless internet connection...lynksys I believe. Furthermore, my pc won't let me do a system restore. All attempts to restore to a prior date comeback saying "incomplete."

Has anyone had this same issue after downloading and installing Limewire. Oh, I am using my mom's computer right now just incase anyone was wondering how I can be on these forums to begin with.

Thanks to those who have any help and insight to this problem

try disabling NIS and see if you can connect...if so then uninstall and reinstall NIS...
