Default Already read 'sticky', pls help (connection)

Hi
I've got 3 pcs in my home network with a router. All xp home sp2. Never had any connection issues at all with Limewire.
Yesterday I got a new PC for my daughter to replace her old laptop (which was one of the existing pc on the network) and I cannot seem to get a connection with Limewire. I've disabled xp firewall and even checked allowed Limewire and Upnp framework in the exception tab.
My other PCs are working fine with Limewire so it's not my router blocking. As far as I can see, my PCs are set up the same in terms of Limewire.
I don't having any other software firewall. Only have Avast Anti Virus and SuperAntispyware...
Any assistance would be highly appreciated.
Rgds
Patrick

Since you can't connect with the new computer, we must assume that there is indeed a difference in the setup, either of LW and/or of your system.
Did you install LW while being logged in as administrator?
Then, did you open the listening port number in your firewall as shown under LW>Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewall Configuration ?
Did you open said port in your firewall as TCP and UDP?
Do you see a small brickwall in front of the globe in the bottom left corner of LW?

Thanks.
I do not need to log in as adminstrator. Never had to with my other computers. It boots up straight to the xp desktop.
I don't use any firewall. My router has UPnP enabled. I doubt it's the router as the other 2 pcs works fine.
Yes, there is a brick wall in front of the globe. I know from the very start that it means some firewall is blocking but everthing is off. I even managed to access that test website with that port extension. I really can't think of any solution.

What type of router do you have? The brand & model is important to know!!!

The firewall issue is coming from somewhere. Either the router isn't handling UPnP properly, which means either rebooting/starting the device or checking the reliability of the device. Some devices don't work reliably in UPnP mode, & may give inconsistent results for some odd computers on the network. Some may take some time to kick properly into action whilst in UPnP mode.

My router is Netgear WPN824. My other 2 PCs are also hooked up via this router and have no issues with Limewire...
UPnP is enabled in the router.
Thanks

Sometimes, even all firewalls have been switched off (disabled), there are still some processes running in the background. That's why we rather advise the people to properly configure their firewall than to just switching them off.

What I would try is to make sure that the LW on the new computer runs with the same listening port number as the other two that are working properly.

Other than that, I'm not sure......maybe deleting the LW preference folder as a precaution will have a positive effect. Read here on how to delete this folder (Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire)
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=36420
Afterwards reboot your computer.

Problem resolved.
I was using pro v 4.9
I bit the bullet and got the latest pro version and all is ok now.
It's a bit weird as the only difference I can see from the Limewire setup is the port no. Version 4.9 uses the 6xxx whilst the new version uses a diff port no. All Pc settings were not touched.
Weird.......
Thanks to everyone.
