This is not the case as i can still load limewire on other computer connected to my wireless, there must be some sort of setting that is not correct to allow me to connect which is also affecting my ftp. i have set all port forwards right and have even uninstalled my firewall software and still no joy

Well St_jimi

If your other computers can download using your BT connection then you must be one of the luckiest people in the country (do you do the lottery?) because BT does restrict P2P usage on their network.

Perhaps you should recall your family guy:

i.e. the one that helped you to set up your connection before, because if there's anybody in the world that can help you chances are it is him.

it may be down to media center cos i cannot run ftp clients or the in built ftp client in windows as i cannot establish a connection with my ftp server

Try portforwarding.

You should not have a problem with MCE if you do that.

If you allready have then sorry, but you haven't mentioned how your settings in Limewire are in regards to connection. In Tools --> Options --> Advanced --> Firewall Config set your listening port and forwarded port to the same port. and choose manual portforwarding.

BTW forward the port both TCP and UDP , Incoming and Outgoing
