Need more help. I'm getting that error message that says: "Your machine does not appear to have an active Internet connection or a firewall is blocking LimeWire..." I have tried virtually everything I could find and it still doesn't work. I also have UPnP enabled on my router, and I am unable to do port fowarding due to the other computers and components on my network. I have tried running LW through UPnP and manually choosing a port and neither have been fruitful. Thanks in advance. Edit: I have fixed half of the problem through another thread, the solution was to disable my firewall while running LW, now I can actually search for things and TRY to download things, that's where the other half comes in. Every single file I try to download it just keeps saying "Connecting...", "Need more sources", "Queued" or "Waiting for stable connections." PLEASE HELP! Re edit: I just booted up LW to see if it might be working now, it reverted back to the original problem even when my firewall is disabled! HELP ME! 1. OS version? : Windows XP Professional (SP2) 2. What firewalls you have? : Windows firewall, but both Lime Wire and it's port is allowed 3. How much ram? : 512 MB 4. Hard Disk space available? : 80GB 5. Connection type? : DSL 6. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? : This question isn't clear to me, I do share the internet connection through a wireless router, but do not share the connection to LW 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user? : Experienced user but not a completely new problem, I have dealt with before but this time is worse 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? : Yes |
Try using a much higher port, like 64049. Make sure that it's your listening port & also allow that port through the XP firewall. I don't know if this will help at all but check the link below & see if any info there is useful. http://text.dslreports.com/faq/eff/6_5360 There have been some suggestions of MTS throttling p2p bandwidth, it might be worth checking with them to find out their policy re p2p use. |
Thanks but still nothing. |

1. Configure your XP firewall properly so LW is allowed; Firewall configuration instructions (click on link) 2. Perhaps Bell's Speedstream's UPnP is not reliable. Try forwarding a port. That's generally more reliable than UPnP. I don't have specific instructions for your model but the brand is listed here under Bell http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm |
As stated above, I am unable to port foward, also as stated above I have allowed both LW and the port that LW uses. I too did go over the link's instructions and it still doesn't work. Thanks anyways. |
Try a different listening port for FW then. Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls. Try one between 49152 - 65535. |
Thanks but no go. |
