limewire disconnects on its own?

I connect limewire and all is fine then when I come back hours later it has disconnected and interupted up/down loads. this was never a problem before but the last few days its has done this every time. its is not a firewall issue(as no brick wall). some times it may disconnect after 20 mins and other times several hours. I normaly let it run in the system tray, I am running limewire pro 4.10.5 . I am running avg antivirus also when I open limwire from desktop the opening screen is blank and does not load and I end up having to close window and open from system tray, also the memory for atrist/albums has erased all info but not of my doing and this all happened the same time. WTH

Close LW. Remove all Java versions you have installed using the add/remove control panel. Then reboot. Then re-install Java but try this version http://java.sun.com/javase/6/download.jsp JRE "Offline" version which is a 14 MB download. LW won't use it if there's any other Java versions on your computer.

I downloaded java(tm)se runtime enviroment 6 88.52 mb but still doing it, is this the right one? also when i return there is an error box that says this machine appers to have no internet connection or a fire wll is blocking limewire from connecting to the internet

This one:

Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Release Candidate
The Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications.

Not sure if it'd make too much difference though.

You wouldn't happen to be with Shaw Cable would you? See them listed here ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter p2p or specifically Limewire

That's often how it happens. They detect you using a lot of bandwidth then set the dogs onto you (p2p filters.)

ohoh:eek: it is shaw, ok so i read the isp known to block and is telus ok to switch over too or can i expect the same problems?

thanks,

trouble downloading

I have had the same problem with being unable to make connections. I use charter, so i cant imagine having a problem with filtering or blocking. I have tried about 30 files, all with under 20 sources, and have gotten nothing. I have had the same problem with bearshare, but i assume the problems are one and the same, as bearshare uses limewire sources sometimes. It is hard for me to believe that the majority of files on limewire are fake files. As i have seen a large number or recent posts on this issue, i wonder what on earth is going on??!! I also use bearflicks, and all of the sudden, a few days ago, the majority of the movie files that were just recently on there disappeared. I think that something deeper is going on, and wonder if perhaps gnutella is starting to cave to production companies?? :bangh:

It looks like lauritastlouis is suffering the same type of problem with Charter. We've had a lot of complaints from Charter users with the same issue.

Shaw is reknown to be doing this. Other forums also have noted the same thing. And I think the company at some point admitted it. But I might be wrong about that because I haven't researched Shaw for many months.
