Default Connection is driving me insane!!!

Sorry to bring this up as all the posts here seem to be about the issue that i'm having. I've tried many of the fixes and none have worked
I've just downloaded Limewire (first time user) and i cannot connect. I search for music etc and nothing ever appears?!?!
There is the globe behind a brickwall icon (firewall) in the bottom left aswell as the connection staying on 1 bar.
I have an evesham PC with windows XP home edition, internet is connected through NTL and i have Norton firewall 2007, the windows XP firewall is turned off and i tried the test http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ and it the message i got was. 'Your test Worked'
Thanks for your time i hope you can resolve this

p.s I am a complete novice with computers so any simple advice or step by step guides are most welcome. Thanks Alex Potter

You have not configured your firewall to allow LW access to the internet, I bet NPF 2007 was preinstalled on your PC when you bought it.

Anyway, these are the best instructions for enabling internet apps to pass through your firewall from the Symantic Website:

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...c?OpenDocument

Although the instruction are primarily for WMP, just ignore that part and go straight for the main instructions.

Also, while you are on the website, you might as well download the NPF 2007 manual (if it is there) because a firewall is one of the most difficult pieces of software to get to grips with and get the best out of. So going through the manual in order to find out how things work will pay you dividends in protecting your PC and confidential information.
