So they gave you Pro not Basic....Pro does cost $18.88US...If you download from the link I gave you, you will only get the basic version and that's free, but it is legit...
Did your version have this at the top
No connection on any P2P network!-2006-12-09_062511.png

Now onto the static IP, I don't know what your ISP is on about, getting a static IP doesn't cost, unless they want to do it for you and charge you...I really don't think the customer service people know what their talking about, or their trying to scare you out of it...
Doing it yourself is not at all hard and you don't have to wait a couple of days for it either....
Follow the steps in the link I gave...Write down the stuff it says to write down and enter that info into the places it says to enter it, it all looks technical but it's not...

btw... who is your ISP....

Just to clarify. Some ISPs charge extra for a static IP (A global static IP). The static IP you need to have is a Local Static IP.

You can still have a Local static IP, even if your global is dynamic (just ask WW )

You do need to get the DNS server numbers (two IP addresses) from your ISP though, and if they give you crap about that, then you give them the hard time. I think they are even obligated to give them out to customers when asked.

And WW is right, if they told you those things, they have no idea what they are talking about.

I actually had never heard of being charged, thanks sleepless...

With the DNS server numbers aren't they already supplied...I found them when I followed the static IP instructions, I never had to ring my ISP...

hey! You're back! :-)

I originally signed up ( way,way back) with Mp3dowloading.com (that was/is their name) and then it changed from that to Etomi Pro>360SharePro & LimeWire. That's the order of how I got to where I'm at now. No where! LOL! Sorry...I'm getting a little "anxious"...frustrated actually. So much work when everything was working perfectly then bamm! It's over? Just like that? Because why again?? I"m sorry, I missed that...why do things like this happen out of no where???
O.k. sorry...venting! ;-) It's not your fault Why!

Any way I thank you for your help! I'm almost positive that where you're sending me I've already been to. (Boy that sounds bad if taken out of text!:-) )and I get to a specific spot where I have no choice to call my IP and beg for some #'s that you (and the rest of the world) say should be very "available" and easy to obtain...and that's including a Static IP? They simply won't even discuss it. I've asked for supervisors and I got news for ya....no better.
Any way why...I'm going to do my best and I'll send you a post either way,k?I apprreciate your going out of your way to see that I get ALL the information and that's rare these days. TRUST ME!

So I'm departing on my journey into "

Don't mention the Static IP to customer support, just ask them for the DNS server numbers, as Sleeplees said they have to give them to you...They aren't the ones who supply the static IP to you....
As Sleepless knows my IP number changes all the time, it's hard to keep up with it...

You get directed to the free limewire site because that's what they offer and charge you for it...That's why they are known as scam sites...

Can you tell me if you actually had the Pro version or the basic version of LW..
Also who is your ISP....

Thanx!

All I aksed for when I got their tech. support was if they would/could provide me with an IP address and a Static IP . The tech froze! He asked me to repeat what exactly it was I was looking for and I mentioned the "IP" address...that he gave me, then I asked for a "static IP" and nothing. I thought the call got dropped or something but no. He needed to check with his supervisor and put me on hold and then came back and told me was near impossible and the cost was way too expensive(his words btw).
So what you're saying is be very specific when I call my ISP back as to Local vs.Global static IP correct?
I'm going to give this one more try before I quit on this "project" for the night...only to be picked up again this time tomorrow right! UGH! this isn't fun for us "self taught" little folk out here.Unlike you and WW!
BUt I really do appreciate your help for sure!
I'll keep you posted!

Don't say anything about static IP numbers ask for the DNS server numbers, when you have them you can enter them where the instructions tell you to...

I know I'm reading/responding to these out of order. Sorry! ;'(
O.K. got it. DNS server #')s?) only. Is there more then one DNS server #'s and if so how many am I asking for??
I have the LimeWire Pro 4.12.6. 360 SharePro Uttorrent(?) not sure what Uttorrents all about. I can't connect on that either but it's a little different then the other 2.
I don't run all at once. Well I'm not running anything at the moment but they do interfere sometimes with each other so I only keep one installed at a time. I don't know if that's necessary.

sbcglobal.net is my ISP.
I just thought of something...if I'm low on memory (RAM) would that be a factor of not being able to connect? Thought I read something a while back about memory in relation to all these networks/sites.
Check back with me when you can. I really, really, really appreciate all the help you and Sleepless have offered. It doesn't get any better then this...does it??? ;-)

Ohh. I had no idea that some people do see their DNS server number by using ipconfig /all

Sorry for saying that you have to call your ISP for them. You should of course try if they can be seen there first.

I had to call my ISP for mine. It didn't have any DNS numbers before that.

I was in no way trying to mislead you and I'm very sorry if I did
