only 1 connection bar

[Max Power]

i recently downloaded limewire and have had it running a number of different times and tried all kinds of tricks (including fully disabling my firewall), but can't get it past 1 green connection bar and when i try to search, it says "LimeWire is currently connecting to the network. Your search may not return many results until you are fully connected to the network." and no search results ever come up.
Please help!
