![]() Hi everyone! I am very new here ... and very confused, as well! My fiancee and I got a brand new computer as a Christmas present yesterday, as our old computer was fried by lightning a few months back! Anywho, I downloaded Limewire and it is not working. I have read just about everything I can read here and absolutely nothing has helped. We use Norton Internet Security and I have already changed the Personal Firewall and all that stuff. I actually don't know much about computers. So, in general, our problem is that it says it is Connecting, and I can search but nothing comes up. And, at the bottom left where those five bars are, only one is green. And there is a green circle next to it that says '3'. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I am getting frustrated! Haha! I hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas! =) <3 Haley |

![]() If that test doesn't work, it means that LW's default port is blocked. Some people seem to have problems with Verizon & some find that LW works fine. Try changing ports. In LW go tools > options > advanced > firewall config. You'll see LW's listening port in the top right corner. Change that to 64049 > apply > ok & see if it's any better (you'll also need to change any specific ports allowed thru a software firewall). You could also try any port between 49152 - 65535. Or port 80. Your router has an internal firewall. AFAIK your router supports UPnP...make sure it's enabled within the router & then choose the UPnP option within LW on that same firewall config page. Apply > ok to save any changes. If using UPnP doesn't work, you can try port forwarding. Follow the instructions below for your router. It might look a bit complicated but it's not really, just go through all the steps slowly & if you get stuck, start over. http://www.portforward.com/english/r...G/Limewire.htm |

![]() Thank you for explaining the whole firewall thing to me! I could not figure out where the firewall was when I had turned all of them off, so I thought! Something that you told me to do worked!
