When you are connected to an ultrapeer search queries are only sent to you if you may have a matching file to upload. By sending only queries that are more likely to match, more bandwidth is available to transfer files.

Your Ultrapeer is doing a lot of work for you so you are suppose to only have one connection. Ultrapeers hold up to 50 connections so if your ultrapeer is well connected to other ultrapeers, you should get great results.

Thanks

Seriously, my results are horrible. on the win2k box, i do a query and get a hundred hits. On the OS X box with 2.x , I got zero results every time. It is driving me crazy, because I need the software for the 2.x box, not my win2k box with 1.8

Default uLTRAPEER : step in the wrong direction

Hi,

if limewire relies on this proprietary ultrapeer idea, it is
just a question of time, it will become incompatible with
the rest of the gnutella world.

AND:
I want to tweak my system myself, and don't rely
on some semi-smart ultrapeer architecture I can't
influence.

Thumbs down Pro2 paid sucking - w/ ultrapeer disabled

Six months free upgrades for six bucks. Hmmm - I was getting connected for $0 on 1.8b on WIN2K.

What gives? I'll gladly help test some improvements but would really like the LIMEYS to tell us WHAT TO DO?
Come on guys - what is up with your version2?

Angry One connection only

Same thing here, always ends up with only one connection. iMac DV 400, OS 9.2.2, Bellsouth DSL.
I guess I'll go back to 1.7, but sure sucks to have paid $6 for something nonfunctional.

Default Ultrapeer Sucks!

Give me back my free version that worked. As far as I am concerned I was just screwed out of $6. Usually when you buy a program it works better and has more features! Looks to me like by paying we had features removed instead of added. I want to control the number of connections I have.

Angry New paid version doesn't work

Updated to the new paid-for version (true, a measly 6 bucks) and now get only one host. I have a hard time downloading anything because so little is available with search. Also I have 580 files to share (mp3 and wav) and when I monitor uploads practically nothing gets uploaded. I have gone through the options many times. Everything is set up right. So could it be the software? Anyone have any suggestions?

Talking About that $6

If they don't fix it in a timely fashion, I suggest we all deny the charge on our credit cards. May that will get their attention.
