I also paid for 2.0 Pro and cannot get ultrapeer to disable although I have checked the box to disable. My connections are no good. I have reverted to version 1.7 while I wait for a solution. I assume once they get their Trojan horse problem behind them they will fix this. I am truely disgusted. I can't understand how this was ever released. |

UltraPeers work in a different sense than the classic Gnutella model. You only want 1 connection to an UltraPeer if you are a client. Eventually, the search horizon will be much greater, as TTLs will reach an exponentially larger number of hosts. Are you looking to disable UltraPeer capabilities because you are being swamped with Gnutella traffic? There is an option to disable the UltraPeer capability in the options menu. However, you will still be a client that connects to larger UltraPeer networks. I will be happy to answer any other questions you many have, so ask away... :-) ~TruStar~ P.S. UltraPeer does not lock out other clients. Other clients can still connect to other UltraPeer hosts. But this is a difficult time for Gnutella. The network is undergoing a restructuring, and the most frustrating times will occur during this time of transition. Hopefully, other clients will follow this new protocol. In the end, it will make gnutella better. :-) |

TruStarwarrior, You don't get the picture. I don't care whether I have 1 connection or ten, as long as it WORKS. But it just doesn't, period. My LW2.0.4 connects to one Ultrapeer and after 1 hour I can search 6 hosts for 800 files. Amazing. When I start LW 1.8 on the same machine after 15 minutes I can search 1500 hosts for a gazillion files. So where's the benefit of moving to 2.x? That's a bug NOT a feature so would someone please step forward and fix it? This thread has been running for two weeks now and still nobody at Limewire seems to realize that there IS a problem.
