Sorry, can't do it in leaf mode; the whole point of ultrapeers is to shield leaves from the bulk of all messaging traffic. Works just fine in ultrapeer mode.

> WE want to re-search terms

You already can by right-clicking on the tab. Expect *automatic* re-query for 2.1.0.

We hear you. We're going to release a service release (2.0.5) that should make leaf nodes get much better search results.

We very much care about our users' concerns, but Gnutellaforums is too big for us to read every message. As KathW says, it's best to contact the LimeWire staff personally if there's something urgent to report. Please note that we can't provide 24 hour turnaround times for all questions!

Default thank you Mme/Msr Developer

Definitely 'get it' that the fora are too populated to track each post. That is why I sent my msg to the moderators.
I have since learned how to re-search, am sad that I cannot see the incoming searches [they sometime provided inspriration for my own searches] and I look forward to continuing to interact with Lime improvements.
Will have a go w/LW2 again in a bit - thanks for the update.

Angry Limewire2 SUCKS!

You are all ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!

I just payed for version 2, and it only gives me ONE connection, labeled "Ultrapeer". I fail to see WHY I am being forced to connect to an "Ultrapeer" when I have a ****ING T1!!!!

I should BE an "Ultrapeer", (If I chose to enable it, that is!)

You can force your copy of LimeWire to be an UltraPeer by modifying your LimeWire.props file with a simple text editor.

Just curious: Why does searching/downloading work so much better in Xolox than it does in Limewire?

I can do the same search in both programs after about 30 minutes of sitting on the network. Limewire finds the file twice, Xolox finds it 50 times.

If I disconnect from whatever crappy ultrapeer I happen to have hooked into then I can maybe find it 5 times, or maybe not find it at all - or maybe if I am extremely lucky I can find it say 10 times.. When I try to download the file though, it only gets the file from one or two places - and the transfer generally takes so long that one or two of the hosts go offline and it's just a waste of time. Xolox seems to get the file from as many places as it possibly can - resulting in transfers of 200K/second sometimes. Why can't limewire do this?

The ultrapeers seem to be the real downfall of Limewire - since they were introduced the program has become pretty much useless.

I'm not complaining.. I am grateful for any free software I can get.. I am just wondering WHY...?

It has been said that it should get better once everyone is using the new version that supports the new features, but all I can connect to now are ultrapeers - which leads me to believe that people are indeed using the new version, and things are still sucking..

Default I seem to be in the miniority here...

I haven't had problems with the new version's abilities. Yes, not knowing how many potential clients I have access to was annoying. but you know what? That didn't work in the old versions either... it was a meaningless number that was used by most as an artificial phalic to wave about.

I rarely have to disconnect from my first ultrapeer to find a host that has clients that have files I want. And I've _NEVER_ had a problem finding people willing to bombard my computer with requests for files in my library.

Do I get _more_ search results from Bearshare right now? Sure, and out of them I get maybe a 10% success rate in downloading. With this new client, perhaps it's the ultrapeer tech or perhaps it's that the people using the new client are actually 'dedicated' to the idea, but I've had a better than 40% success rate in getting files.

And given that, from my understanding, EVERY major client developer team have signed onto the Ultrapeer idea, I can only see it gettting better.

This is a bump people, stop making it out to be the end of the road.

i talked to the developer and he said that right now i think we are at limewire 2.0.3 and he said that there are issues with that version and they hope to have a beta version on 2.0.6 out soon that will fix this ultrapeer thing.

the only reason i'm complaining is i don't need ultrapeer with my connection speed so hopefully the next version will actually disable ultrapeer when u choose to disable it.

hmm, d/l'ed 2.0 for OSX today and at first it was working wonderfully. Much faster, more responsive than the 1.8 it replaced. I seemed to get more hits and everything was d/l'ing very fast compared to the usual dinky speeds of 1.8 (I have cable modem also!). I closed the program and when I went back to it a few hours later to d/l again I had all the problems that all of you are complaining about. No hits. Needless to say I will be back in 1.8 for a while, but I think ultrapeer (at least the idea of it) seems very promising.
