Be aware that Norton is very fussy. For each version of a program you install, you need to recalibrate Norton for. 1. Reconfiguring Norton Firewall, & 2. Configuring Norton Internet Security, 3. Make sure XP's firewall is disabled. You'll find it in control panels.

Good find ukbobboy01 I totally missed that. And yes, chances are the sudden firewall is due to Tiscali ... as well as any slow speeds.

Default It Works

thanks for all your advice, finally got to the bottom of it. Had all weird things happen. The thing that fixed it was easy. I defragmented my hard drive and hey presto. So that a bit of advice to people, try the easy things first. Thanks again!!!

You know Mark

I think there is more to your solution than you are letting on, simply put how could a fragmented C:\ drive cause the firewall icon to be displayed in LW? Also, a fragmented drive would slow all your apps down but you did not say that in your post.

Anyway, the main problem is that you did not supply enough info, i.e. the symptoms your PC were showing when you wrote out your cry for help. It would be appreciated if you have another problem you try to be as comprehensive as possible and not just leave us with the edited highlights.

Default Sorry

Thought it was too good and easy. Same again today. Nothing will log in. limewire, my bittorrent account or camfrog. Problem is deep down. Either with Tiscali or Norton internet security 2006 (posted 2007 but soon relised it was 2006) it has just never done this before, seems weird too me.

Well that's the side-FX of some of the limitation/blocking techniques some isp's use nowadays. Suddenly you can't find any results or can't downld or extremely slow speeds.
