Connection Problems Problems getting the LimeWire or WireShare program connecting to the Gnutella network. (not about connecting to files, that is a Download/Upload Problems section issue.) Please supply system details as described in the forum rules.

Default only one small bar of green in the connection tab

Howya
Eh yeah looks like im having similar problems to the majority in here. Basically just getting that one wee green bar in the connestion tab and thats it. Any basic suggestions would be warmly received.

1. OS version? windows xp
2. What firewalls you have? sophos, XoftSpySE and AVG free
3. How much ram? 512
4. Hard Disk space available? around 30 gigs as well a portable hard drive- up to 200gigs
5. Connection type? broadband
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? wireles access point- cisco aironet 1200 series. WBS- ROEB1-10
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? University
8. What version of LimeWire. 4.12.6
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? University College Dublin
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ the test worked
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers. yeah probably as it a wireless connection for the university.
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.- first try
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? no

Lots of schools block p2p use...are other people at Uni using LW successfully?
You should ask whoever's in charge of the internet use whether the Uni allows p2p use.

You could try connecting thru a different port, this may or may not help. In LW tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Change LW's listening port to 64049. Any ports allowed thru a software firewall or forwarded thru a router will have to be the same number

Its not a good idea to run multiple firewalls. Better to pick one, configure it properly & disable the rest. Rather than giving you more protection, multiple firewalls will interfere with each other.
