Can no longer connect

i've been using limwire pro 4.12.3 for about one year now. i've had minor problems in the past with freezing issues but my connection is almost guaranteed to be turbo-charged everytime i open up. Recently, limewire remains stuck at the starting connection stage and i cannot connect any more. Unless my isp has suddenly disabled my p2p, i do not know what happened. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Thanks

Has anything changed since you could connect (new or upgraded hardware, software, ISP plan etc)?

What version of Java are you using?
What's the model of your modem/router?

Try deleting LW's preferences folder when LW's closed. See points 2 & 3 below. No guarantees it'll change anything but it's helped the odd person so it's worth a try.
Fixes for LimeWire

nothing had changed before the whole connection problem. i upgraded to the latest version of java and i don't know what my router/modem's model is. i've been through all of the the deleting preferences folder and general fixes for limewire before and nothing has worked. if all else fails should i just cave in a purchase it over again?

No, don't buy Pro until you know basic's going to work.

You could download the latest basic release (4.12.6), or there's a 4.13.0 beta as well, & see if things improve. If you love the 4.12.3 Pro, make sure the installer's saved in case you want to revert back to it at any stage. If you do upgrade to a newer version, delete your prefs after installing it.

Are you using SP2 & if so, are you using any of the connections patches?

Can you have a look on your router or modem & find out the brand & model? Or aren't you connecting through any device?

i am using sp2 but i've haven't personally updated anything besides the automatic updates. i'm running java 1.5.0_10. its a modem supplied by comcast, i'm pretty sure its linksys though

i just have a quick update, my limewire connection finally connected to "good" this is still not close to where it normally is. does that make any sense?

i hate to keep adding posts but i just realized that one of my files actually finished downloading without making a connection or showing any progress
