Default streamyx and LWire Pro

I and a few friends (one using a Mac) also having connection problem which started about the time of the earthquake in Taiwan. I even tried FrostWire with no luck. The funny thing is my LW free version at home on the desktop (via streamyx also) works!! When I use my laptop connected to the wireless router at home, it doesn't work. I've been using LW Pro for about a year with no problems until a few weeks ago.

System details - help us to help you

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Recently there's been a problem with people not providing enough details about their setup - despite being asked again & again.

So let's make it easy for everyone...the details that we need if we're going to be able to help with complex problems are:

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) XP Pro SP2
2. What firewalls you have? Win XP and router firewall3. How much ram? 768MB4. Hard Disk space available? 2GB5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Streamyx broadband
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? DI-5247. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? House8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 4.12.6 and Java 1.5
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? Streamyx
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Your test worked
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. No12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. No, had earlier versions.....had this upgrade a month ago and was fine
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? yes

It's probably got something to do with the Taiwan earthquake

Heaps of Streamyx users are having the same problems!!

If the firewall icon has always shown in LW, chances are that it's an earthquake related problem with LW. Have you called TMNet to ask them what's up?

If you've only just started seeing the firewall icon, get back to us. But honestly, if this is due to cable damage then there's not much point fixing up the firewall problem if you won't be able to connect anyway...better to wait until the connection is fixed & then address that problem

Hi Birdy,

As expected, the ISP will provide you with info that everything's alright. Anyone with any idea when all this problems are mended? It's also a good idea to have the www servers and cables, or whatever in non-quake prone areas......like msia lol....

Hi guys, I'm in Malaysia and had been using LW via streamyx for about 2 years now, never had a problem. around the time of the taiwan earthquake i cant connect to LW anymore. Only 1 small green bar and thats it. have tried everything and read every threads posted here and came to 2 possible reason:

1. Broken cables caused by earthquake.
2. Streamyx is scaling down the bandwidth for P2P users.

It seems a large majority of LW users in Malaysia are having connection problems. Does this problem still persist? I'm still can't connect from my LW. Anybody else still facing this problem in Malaysia? Is it only applicable to streamyx users??

Hey Guys,

Im another long time LW user in Malaysia, who at around the time of the taiwan earthquake have been unable to connect to Limewire.

i also get the message...LW is currently connecting to the network........
Previously i had no problems downloading, i havent changed any settings

i also have the brick wall and 1 signal bar.[Using Streamyx and router]

Its very frustrating....but i guess we are no closer to a solution

yeah unfortunately there are lots of longtime LW users in Malaysia (like myself) who suddenly unable to connect to LW around the time of the taiwan earthquake. initially i thot is my comp (which is weird cos i haven't change any settings at all) but after reading all the threads in this forum, i think i'm definitely not alone. its really either broken cables or streamyx problem.

super super frustrating really.....
