so yeah, cant connect

I've read alot of tutorials to try to fix the problem i have. SP2/Linksys Router/Personal firewall/Windows Firewall.

I've opened ports, closed my zonealarm, disabled windows firewall and still wouldn't work. Just don't get it. I thought it might be my ISP blocking P2Ps, but my cousin's limewire (under the same ISP) works. So I only could conclude that it might be the SP2 problem. Couldn't be because Ive done the TCPIP.sys patch or whatever.

Any help would really help me out alot. I've done almost everything, searched through this forum and still wont work. So finally - decided to make my own thread.

Cheers lol :)

Starhub do shape p2p...
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showpo...91&postcount=8
...so maybe changing ports would help.
In LW go tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Change LW's listening port to 64049 > apply > ok.

You could also try port forwarding for your router. Follow the directions here
http://www.portforward.com/english/r...G/Limewire.htm
and don't forget to set up a static IP address first. You'll see instructions in that link. Port forwarded thru a router must be the same number as LW's listening port!!

See how that goes. I don't know how much Starhub's network was effected by the Taiwan earthquake...some places are still having major problems with internet so maybe that has something to with it as well;)

yeah but the thing is, my cousin's computer is using starhub internet too, but he can connect to ares, limewire and such lol, but ill give it a go.

adambt January 26th, 2007 01:43 AM

alright, just did it, still shows "Starting Connection"

birdy January 26th, 2007 02:15 AM

Did you set up a static IP address first? Is the firewall icon still there? If it is, you might have missed something out with your port forwarding. Did you make sure that LW's listening port & your port forwarded were the same number? That number also has to go into the manual port forward box in LW's tools > options > advanced > firewall config.

Does your cousin connect from your house? If they don't, it still could be that your problem is ISP related as lots of people in Thailand using Streamyx can't connect but some people using the same ISP can connect. It was just a thought that the quake might be effecting some people's connections.

Yeha i did static IP, and yes firewall icon still there, yeah i changed LW's port listening adn the manual thing. And my cousin connects from his house not mine.

I don't think she will mind Mick...People don't relise that ISPs can do this sort of thing, so you have made a very valid point...
