Connecting

Just switched to cable internet access, have a Surfboard cable modem,
Gateway SBG900, using Zone Lab and Windows firewalls, Lime Wire will not connect, have forwarded ports, added to exceptions, deleted .lime, nothing works. am afraid to shut down firewalls, HELP!

Your computer will not be overun by viruses & spyware....

To keep safe.. I would strongly recommend downloading peer guardian. (as it is designed for p2p users & acts as a firewall)...
Also, if you do manage to connect to the network, scan the files before you open them.

It's also not wise to be running 2 active firewalls as they will clash with each other and offer no protection....I would suggest disabling the windows firewall...

Thanks, disabled gateway firewall and all is well, will disable windows next. Question: have cable at 4mbs but get downloads at 5kbs, any ideas?

This could be due to a number of reasons....
Mainly, because you got LimeWire basic. LW Pro offers 'Turbo-Charged Downloads' :)
