Hi Shy.
Im sorry to inform you but AOL are shaping P2P traffic so its them I would
suspect. As for T1,T3 n that you can D/L from all speeds. If you only have
56K dial up, then I would'nt try running to many other programs at same time
There are better ISPs out there if you want to use P2P,Play Games,U.Tube.
What country you in, people may recomend some for you.
Peace.

But that isn't fair (or right), some rumors say that Vista USES P2P tech NATIVELY in their LAN's, i don't think it should be the local machine then.

PS: And a question for ShyGrl, Does Vista run well on those 512 Mb of RAM, or it runs slowly, please tell me, i'm thinking of upgrading

Vista and McAfee don't go well together at all and HeatherDianeR is actually correct in what she has advised....
Quote:
If uninstalling java doesn't work go to start-control panel-under programs you'lll choose uninstall a program- find mcafee and choose uninstall. it will pop a box with different options to uninstall, go ahead and choose all of them. after that's finished limewire should work fine. you'll probably need to get a different kind of virus protection because evidently mcafee and limewire don't mix too well. Good Luck!!
Mick is also right in saying that you have to run Java JRE...So seeing you have that part under control try using Heather's fix, it has worked for many...

But you also need to get an Anti Virus, there are plenty of excellent free one's....http://www.grisoft.com/doc/products-...g/us/tpl/tpl01 I use this one myself....

Also it's a good idea to have good spyware protection...

Just a bit of extra info...
This AV is also free (I use it)
http://www.free-av.com/

And a good little IP blocker for using with p2p apps is PeerGuardian2, it's also free

Honestly DRK-GUY I don't really know. When it comes to computers I'm an idiot but I can say that offline when I want to do something it's not slow but as far as anything I do online at AOL.It's as slow as can be....I can't even run 3 things at once. I've had several people say it's just AOL& it's no good. Some people have said it's b/c I'm on dial up& some have said it has to be something with the computer. Sorry I couldn't help you more.

okay I've uninstalled my Mcafee and guess what..nothing happened..I got the same exact message that I did before so I think Mick is right about it being AOL. I've got Netscape and I was trying to see if I got online there and tried to use LW and when I got on it kept saying i had problems so I posted on their forum and they said that NS responds neg. with the Mcafee too. I haven't tried to get on there since I just uninstalled my program but I'm gonna try now and I'll let you guys know how it goes.

YEAH IT WORKED IT WORKED I HAVE LIMEWIRE!!!!!I'M SO HAPPY THE 3 DAYAND NIGHT HEADACHE IS FINALLY OVERAlright I'm gonna put every little detail that I did down and you guys can make of it what you will. Alright I started by downloading the JRE6 that Mick told me about(thanks so much) When that didn't work we determined it must be Aol....so I was going to try my netscape service...when my NS wouldn't come up I posted on their forums and found out that they have a problem with Mcafee too. Since I've seen it recommended several times I figured I'd try to delete my whole Mcafee. I did and when I went online(AOL) and I tried to search the message popped up"there's no connection so your search may not be complete...etc"I just closed it after that and opened my NS browser I had to connect to AOL to get my browser to work when I did that and it was up and running I tried my LW and when I put in my search it displayed the same message this time I just clicked ok and let it ride. No more then a few sec. after that my search popped up and I could download it and now it's fully downloaded. The only down side is that I haven't yet installed an anti-virus program yet and so I don't know how that'll affect my LW. I'll post if I have problems.Hope this can help someone and save them a big headache. I'd like to say thanks to Mick for all your help I couldn't have done it without you. Thanks to you Heather for giving me the idea. And thanks to anyone else that helped.I'll keep posted im case something happens. Bye

Jessie
Im so happy you have things working now.
So before you do to much downloading take good advice, & check out the
stickies in RED at the top of each main forum page.
May all your UPs n downs be good one's, n stay away from exe, rar, zip n wma
files, there 99.999 % viruses. Stick to avi,MP3 ,till you get the hang of it.
Peace.
