Well...since its the connection problems thread...guess what problem I am having? First of all, I have a legit, purchased copy of Limewire Pro 4.9.3, from Limewire, it is installed and works just fine on my account... BUT...and there is always a BUT...I cannot for the life of me get it to work for a new account I created which has full Admin Privileges on Windows XP Professional w/sp2. (Account was created for my daughter), All other software works on her account that was originally installed on the main Admin account (mine) Limewire just seems to sit there trying to connect. I checked all the settings, Universal Plug and play and ports, they are all the same as my original account. Some other info... I checked all the Read this first stuff in the beginning of this forum...and its set correctly. here are the answers to the provided list 1. OS version? Windows XP Pro with SP2 2. What firewalls you have? Sygate 3. How much ram? 512 4. Hard Disk space available? 100 GB 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Cable/DSL 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Linksys Wireless G 2.4gh 7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? Home 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. Limewire 4.9.3, Java 5 9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? GCI 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? I got the your test worked message 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. NO... 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. Experienced user, problem is with creating a new account for another family member on the same computer..however, no other accounts are connected when they sign on so there is no conflict possible 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes, and the fire wall is configured to allow Limewire full access Help??? Pete |
Mich Hi. L/W wont recognize accounts added after its installed,to fix this Reinstall If you want the option to reuse your Limewire 4.9.3, then save the L/W installer to Desktop first. First! close L/W completly, then Go,Start/All Programs/LimeWire & uninstall L/W then Go, START/My Computer/local disc C:/ Documents & settings/Your User Name/Application Data Now Delete the LimeWire Folder. If you cant find Application Data Folder,GO to Tools/folder Opions,& tick,show hidden folders, You can put the setting back afterwoods to protect your computer. note: You will have to reset your, Tools/options in L/W Later. Now reinstall your version of L/W, or use this link to update to the latest version http://www.limewire.com/ Note: LimeWire works best if you keep your java updated JRE 6 is avalable here's a link to update if you wish. Use the off line installer NOT the (recormended) one, http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp Peace. |
