Default Starting Connection

I upgraded to Limewire Pro today because I had been having problems with the free version. It used to work perfectly but over the last couple of months it stopped working and only worked on very rare occassions.
Anyway, after upgrading to Pro I though it might fix the problem but it still isn't working! It just keeps on saying 'Starting Connection' and there's only one green bar. I have rummaged through help files and done as much as I can understand. I have disabled my windows firewall and have added Limewire to the Permit list on my Norton firewall.
When I logged onto Limewire afew hours ago it start working for about 5 minutes (all bars were green) but then it just went back to 1 green bar and stopped working.
PLEASE someone help me! I'm lost!

Hi Amy.
System details - help us to help you Please.
Cut n paste these Questions, put your answers in bold text

Recently there's been a problem with people not providing enough details about their setup - despite being asked again & again.
So let's make it easy for everyone...the details that we need if we're going to be able to help with complex problems are:

1. what OS version? (eg: Windows 98, XP,OSX, Vista)
2. What firewalls you have ?
3. How much ram ?
4. Hard Disk space available ?
5. Connection type (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) ?
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers ?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.) ?
8. What version,LimeWire & Java,Go to L/W's Help/About L/W, THIS show both LW & Java version.?
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider) ?
10. Do this test click here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ should say 'Your test worked!. What happens ?
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.?
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface ?
14. Have you given full permisions for LimeWire to pass through your Firewall ?
15. XP users, Please state XP firewall on or off.?

These are all contained within the sticky Connection problems? Check here first!
but possibly some people are getting a bit confused or lost when we direct them to this sticky & ask them to provide their details.

This information can be vital
For instance, some ISPs are known for blocking p2p/throttling bandwidth,
some connection devices are known for being unreliable in certain situations.

So please, help us to help you & provide as much info as you can.
If you're new to LW or new to computers & aren't sure how to answer some questions,
or don't know what an ISP or router is - just say so. Nobody's going to yell at you:wink:
Even if you can't answer all the questions in one go...don't worry. Do the best you can & we'll take it from there.

Ami Hi.
If you wish to use P2P, you may have to change ISP, (Internet Service Provider) They are blocking you.
Peace.

Thanks for your help. Your tops!
Can I ask if Kazaa is any good? I used to use it but it slowed down my PC considerably. Was wondering if it's any better these days?

Hi Amy.
Have you tryed changing the port numbers to a number between 50000 to
65000, (manual port faward) & (listern on port) should be same number, in
Tools/options/advanced/firewall config. change no's.

PS..I would make kazaa your last resort, I loved kazaa in the early days but it became mostly spam on offer
so if you can find another, I would.
Peace.
