If you haven't already, try the instructions on this page for port forwarding(remember to set up the static ip): http://portforward.com/english/route...G/Limewire.htm

Hi Joefuf.
I Just stumbled on this.
4. Optimum Online (particularly of Long Island) are totally blocking all p2p sharing!!!. See http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...=&pagenumber=1 for just one of many, many examples!!! It seems they are blocking ports. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls & change the listening port to one between 49152 - 65535. Press Apply. Then restart LW. Ports 64049 or 50012 seem good for this isp.

Sounds like a plan and the Long Island thing would make sense cause a buddy of mine told me he has to use eTomi Pro... Now I get why... Also so you guys know I live in Morris County New Jersey so I doubt that would be effecting me ... But as I said before...

Appears at the startup screen and closes the process so I don't even get in. Thus, I cannot edit options in Limewire.

I just tried this in eTomi Pro (using it cause it at least starts up, but wont connect (I know wrong forum to be posting it in)(I am still trying to get Limewire to work so I am still in this thing)) and it still didn't work.

And that link you gave is literally http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...=&pagenumber=1 the ... screws it up (the ... is the shortened up the original link but it won't work in a hyperlink.)

Joefuf Hi.
Just lets do a recheck
Have you phoned your ISP to rule them out ?
Have you removed all other apps of java before installing new ?
I know the error said poss Firewall but corrupt java gives same error.
Sounds like things have become jumbled.

Follow thease instructions exactly.
So, you need to Go, Start/All Programs/LimeWire n Uninstall all L/W versions.
Do Not Uninstall From Change or Remove Programs.
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.

Now Go to, Start/Search/click on all files n folders/more advanced options/
& make sure, case sensitive, is not ticked. (all other boxes should be ticked)
Now!!, Put limewire in box, (all or part of file name) & click search.
Delete everything found, including Prefetch folder, (I mean everything)
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.

Now! Go to,
START/Set Program Access/Change or Remove Programs,
now completely remove all versions of java.
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.

Now! Use this Link to get JRE 6, Use the off line installer, NOT the (recormended) one,
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
When Download is completed.
Disconnect from internet, close ALL apps n reinstall java.

Now!! Use this link to download latest L/W version using the off line installer
http://www.limewire.com/
If you need help, Shout, If it fixed your problem or not, Feedback helps others.
Peace

1. Yes the isp isn't the problem (my other computer (laptop) connects to lw fine)
2. Java totally removed
3. Lw uninstalled
4. Rebooted
5. Searched with no results (already deleted the preferences folder)
6. Rebooted
7. Java removed and internet disconnected
8. Java reinstalled
9. Lw reinstalled and still the same message

no go...
