No I don't. Is is possible for you do by-pass your connection devices. Let's see if it's the device at fault.
Which ISP provider do you go thru?

Do you only have one firewall (XP has its own firewall!)?

Angry

I can't get Limewire to connect no matter what I do. I tried the deleting the directory or whatever thing. I tried the adding Gnutella to the firewall exceptions. I don't have Norton Internet Security (atleast I don't think I do, I tried looking for it all over). I tried turning off Windows Firewall. Unless there's something I didn't do already, I don't know what to do. I have Windows XP, a dial-up connection, Limewire version 4.8.1, and Windows Firewall (can't find any other firewalls). It uses a modem. Can someone please help me!?!?

Shadow921 you use an aol proxy. AOL is reknown for problems for LW users. If you're using a proxy, did you configure that into your LW settings (LW's menu Tools>Options>Advanced>Proxy/Firewall.)

I also have a DI Link but I was forced to forward a port. I don't think DI Link use Universal Plug and Play (UPnP.) If you wish to try port forwarding then use the following instructions very carefully & in that order. Most important is setting up a static ip. Also do a separate port forward (PF) for both TCP & UDP.

Steps:
1. Set up a static ip

2. Forward Port 6346, instructions for this & setting up a static ip here: http://www.portforward.com/dlink/di-524.htm (Find LimeWire on the list when you get to the PF stage!)

3. Within LW: Manual port forward instructions & sample image & 2 posts after that.
the fixes for limewire thing didnt work. i have no idea how to set up a static ip. could you explain this to me as if i know nothing about the ip stuff? i rally appreciate your help.

C.Select Configure on the right of the screen

D.On the new screen that comes up, select Peograms

E.Find Limewire and make sure its on Automatic or Permit All

F. If not select modify and change it to Permit All

Lightbulb POSSIBLE CONNECTING SOLUTION

OK let me turn the apple cart over. I battled for more than six weeks to no avail to get LW connected. My ISP assured me he was not blocking me and yet no connection. Not even WinMX was connecting. Reading through sites as well as Microsoft forum it appeared that I might have a Winsock problem. I ran a repair WinXP Pro install and since then I have been up and running with no problems. I do not suggest everyone to do this but I am sharing my success with you. I run with Windows Firewall and Microsoft Anti Spyware on. For what it's worth I am sure everybody knows the importance of Winsock.dll etc
