I have tried deleting the LW pref file.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling.
I set up a static IP and tried opening ports and port forwarding.
Nothing seems to be working. =(
Recheck your ip. The most common mistake made when people forward a port is not setting up the static ip properly. If that was the case, you should delete the port forward settings you have & redo them. Port forwarding is based on the ip used at the time.

I'd suggest uninstalling your java versions you have & reinstalling using the control panel. Then reinstall LW using the "Offline" installer (it will uninstall the previous copy of LW at beginning of installation.) recheck your Norton FW settings; Configuring Norton Internet Security. Make sure your XP or any other firewalls are turned OFF! Also, try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.)

I can't give much more advice because you haven't given your system & peripheral set up specifics.

BT do in fact shape bandwidth for p2p use. Also I believe the BT connection devices need special configuration. Check the BT support pages on their website & check the details of your particular device. It may need port forwarding. Also recheck your Vista firewall settings. And make sure you don't have other active firewalls on your computer. Generally found in the control panel. Check your anti-spyware, etc. utilities to be sure none are blocking LW.

Try these fixes and you should be right to go...
Try uninstalling your Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE offline version....(5th one down)
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index_jdk5.jsp

Then uninstall Limewire using the uninstaller which is found in start > all programs > limewire...then re-install it using the offline installer...
http://www.limewire.com/english/cont...oadfree2.shtml

If that does not help with your problem try deleting your preference folder...

I have done everything that has been said to do and i've look at so many different posts and tried so many things and i still can't seem to get LW to connect. Here is my problem, a couple of days ago i was downloading songs and it was working perfectly fine, then all of a sudden it stopped connecting. When i try to download it says connecting for a couple of minutes then it says need more sources. Does anyone know of any other ways to fix this problem??? I could really use the help as i seem to be getting very frustrated. thanks. oh yeah, i forgot to add that i have the basic version of LW

Hi lismarie06,

So there's nothing actually wrong with your LW's connection to the network? It's just that files won't connect for download? This thread's about problems when LW won't connect to the network

There are heaps of fake files around. They'll sit connecting for ages & then get stuck needing sources forever. Try the tips in these threads & remember to always check a video file with Bitzi (music doesn't get rated as often) before download

Fake files showing up in search results
How to find music (also has info that applies to video)

If it's happening with every single file that you try to download (do a test...search for an old song & try to download a file with 10 sources or less), delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 below, also point 2 if you've used much older versions of LW in the past.
Fixes for LimeWire

This will kill all of your settings within options. You'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things to the way you like them

SilverFox is flying high
Default Tried Everything

I tried disabling tool tips and clearing out the directory. I enabled the Exception for Windows Firewall (my only one) and it still says that I'm firewalled. I also tried getting the JRE solution and it still says that I'm ****ing firewalled! I'm honestly about to leave LimeWire. I couldn't connect to that "Your test worked!" page. It's supposed to be testing if your ISP blocked the port right? Well it's not my school network, my roomate can connect fine. It should work because I allowed the exception in Window's firewall. It still says that I am blocked.

What the hell is going on? PLEASE HELP!!!

There's no fixing this. I did a complete uninstall and reinstall and it's still not working. A quick answer would be preferable.
