1.get file gnutella.zip from here (right click - save target as )

http://minasbeis.tripod.com/gnutella.zip

and unzip it

2.go to directory
C:\Documents And Settings\username\Application Data\LimeWire
(where username is the name you use to login to your PC) and replace the existing file gnutela.net with that

3.restart limewire.

Wow, 92 pages, I had trouble with this, but in the end I just had to turn off my Norton Internet Security's firewall.

I'm glad to see that the technique is working for some users. Though it is very surprising that the fix is not as general purpose as I thought it would be.

Thanks IT WORKED!!!

You must show all hidden files like so:-

[1] Open windows explorer:-
select Tools à Folder Options à View à Show hidden files and folders.
[2] In windows explorer look for the Limewire Folder – go here:-
c:\documents and settings\username\applications data\LimeWire
(or)
c:\documents and settings\username\limewire
[3] Ensure that limewire is completely off - (check system tray-bottom right-if the
LW icon is still there-right click select exit)

now open the .limewire folder and look for and delete the gnutella.net file

[4] Now download a new version of gnutella.net and save it to your desktop -
[5] Drag the new gnutella.net file from your desktop into the limewire folder.
[6] Close the LW Folder and start up Limewire
Hope this helps-please let us know

Default ISP problem

I have read through all of the connection threads and have not seen anyone who is using Vista that has fixed a connection issue. I have eliminated my router and connected directly, shut off Windows firewall, removed Norton, updated Java and I can still not connect. I downloaded the most recent version of Limewire basic. I looked for the gnutella.net file(with hidden files shown)and do not see it to replace? I connect at my sister's house through her ISP and have no issues. Any suggestions on how to get through w/o changing ISPs?

That's ok just download a new gnutella.net file and drag it into your
Limewire Folder (see my thread addressed to junkie and follow the
same steps)

let us know if this works please

Default connection failure

Every thing I have tried to download sends the connection status as "connecting" then "waiting for stable connection"... Now it is locked up completely... my problems started when I "upgraded" to limewire PRO...
I am furious, I want my money back! Don't go PRO!!!!
Is there any real customer support, someone in limewire I can 'chat' with?
Where do I go from here?
