My Limewire Problem...

Maybe it's yours too however I hope not.
I was downloading a file and poof limewire closed. ann error window opened... I operate windows XP and Norton anti virus.
The window said a error occured in the following file

c;\docume~1\HP_ADM~1\locals~1\temp\ed0c_appcompat. txt

I no longer can open any limewire file that is associated with limewire... such as temp files and I no longer can open limewire it'self. If I search this file as soon as it's found I experience the same problem whih is windows shuts down and restarts it'self.

I do need help as I'm not that skilled with my PC.

How doi I illiminate this problem.

Have you scanned your system over with Norton AV? Also check online AV tests here WARNING: Viruses on network you should be aware of! (click on link). Whilst the problem might not be a virus, it is best to be sure. And remember not all AV programs pick up all viruses.

I'd suggest deleting that file if possible. Incomplete Download File won't delete at all (click on link). It might also be worth a reinstall of windows.

Hopefully some will have better ideas since I am not a windows expert. (or any kind for that matter)

Thanks for you help I appreciate it. I tried a Norton scan but no virus was detected. I will try the links you posted and see what happens.

Any other options? Anyone?

Are there any software downloads that you recommend as essential to operating windows xp?
If so where can these be found?
Are there any good free software files for download?

Hi khingpynn.
These are all Free & reccomended by us, if you use P2P, peerguardian is a good little program that will help stop alot of spam & known bad IPs.
http://peerguardian.sourceforge.net/

SpyBot search & Destroy,For cleaning worms/trojan's , I Run this before shutting down computer. Some worms become active on startup so scan before close. Oh advanced mode n settings should not be used or changed before fully reading and understanding the fax.

The last one is a good adaware shifter.

P.S.set them all to auto update Defs.
Peace.
