![]() This is me. ![]() I need help. I am another person fallen victim to the seemingly incurable problem that plagues LW users everywhere. I CANNOT CONNECT!!! AAARRRRGH! I get stuck at Starting Connection forever. I will be using my computer from a NURSING HOME before I get any kind of connection. Anyway, here is my info. Keep in mind I'm not really sure about some stuff. 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) Windows XP Home Edition 2002 or other. 2. What firewalls you have? Windows Firewall 3. How much ram? Honestly, I dunno. Somewhere between 512mb and 1gb. 4. Hard Disk space available? I have a 67gb hard drive with 15gb or so remaining. 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Umm, DSL I think. 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? D Link DI-624 7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? House. 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. LW Pro 4.12.6 Java 1.6 9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? Verizon, I think. 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? It says "Your Test Worked!" 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. I am sharing my connection with my desktop PC (I'm using my laptop). I also have Frostwire (which doesn't work either), Phex (which also doesn't work), BitTorrent (which works but is slower than a three-legged cow in the mud), and I recently got Morpheus (which I deleted a day later because, guess what, it didn't work!). So, that's about it. 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. I have been using LW pretty much since I got my laptop (about 4 months). I guess I'm an experienced user, but this is not a new problem. LW worked fine for a couple months and then just conked out. I then got the other p2p programs but they stopped working a day or so after I got them. 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes, but I made sure to allow LW on my firewall and now I'm very confused ![]() ![]() So, anyway, I can only get Starting Connection and if this continues I just might eat my mouse. So, HELP MEEEEEEE! Inu Gami Sama |

![]() Some people have had trouble connecting with Verizon recently. If it's an ISP issue there's really not a lot that we can do. Since you're having trouble with other p2p apps, it's possible that the problem's with Verizon & not LW ![]() Things to try: Change ports. In LW tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Change LW's listening port to 64049, or something in the range of 49152 - 65535. Apply > ok. Download the 4.13.2 Beta version of LW & see if that connects. Your router has a firewall. Try port forwarding. Here are the instructions for your router. http://www.portforward.com/english/r...4/Limewire.htm Don't forget the step of setting up a static IP. The port forwarded through the router, LW's listening port, port within the 'manual port forward' box must all be the same number. |

![]() Ok, now I'm confused. I was about to do the stuff you suggested, but before I even did anything, I suddenly got a Turbo connection. What gives here? Looks like its fixed... for now. Hopefully it'll stay that way for a while. At least if it starts being screwy again I know what to do. And when it does I'll post whether or not it worked. Thanx anyway. P.S. A friend of mine is going to give me more RAM cuz apparently he has extra RAM lying around in his room (He works at a Best Buy store). So, yay. ![]() |

![]() I tried to do the port forwarding, but I couldn't log into the router. So, I gave up. I haven't even tried opening limewire for a long time. I got new RAM (2 Gigabytes, yay!) and I just tried LW and it worked fine (so maybe the RAM was the problem??) Anyway, I hope that this is the last of my LW problems. If I have more problems I'll ask my friend the Walking Tech Support Station how to port forward. thanks anyway. InuGamiSama ![]() |
