Can't connect in the evenings....
 

Guys - first post here. Along the same lines as other posts, but mine's a weird one. I can't connect to Limewire between 6 and 11 every evening !! Rest of the time it's great, fast connection and download speeds, but in the evenings absolutely nothing. All other online stuff is fine - internet works etc.
I'm in the UK in a smallish village near Exeter. Very frustrating as it's the main time I want to use it.
I have recently bought ans Apple iMac - never had the problem with my pc - loads of other problems but not this.
Any ideas or info would be greatly appreciated.

Ouch. They're a pain. See if any of these threads help...no guarantees but you never know:)

If you use the forum search to look for Tiscali, you'll find lots more threads from people having problems.

Some people have found changing ports helps. To do this, in LW go tools > options > advanced > firewall config. There you can change LW's listening port. Good ones to try are 49152 - 65535. Someone recently got connected after weeks of pain using port 139. Have a read of these...

I have found a solution to getting Limewire to work with Tiscali

Cheers - I did search, but there's dozens to trawl through. I knew someone would be able to point me straight there !! :idea:
I may give Tiscali a call if i have a spare two hours!
I'm not exactly a 'big' downloader - just a few songs here and there.

I've got the same problem, can't connect after 5 in the evening and i'm with homecall. Tried changing the listening port but that didn't change anything! Any other suggestions?

Call our isp & tell them to take their p2p filters off or you will take our business elsewhere.

Oh ... I just checked up your ip & your isp is a subsidary of Tiscali. Same practice is obviously being used as the parent company. BTW most UK ISP's now apply some form of shaping to p2p.

Rang Tiscali and basically the guy said they do not support P2P filesharing and there's nothing they can do. I explained I was a low user who uses their computer in peak times only and like to use Limewire for example, and it's only started happening in the last month or so, but he just kept repeating what he said - almost like he was reading from a script !! :rolleyes_2:
Where could the call centre possibly have been !! :bangh:
Anyway, said I'd be leaving Tiscali soon and guess what the guy said?

Ha! Got the ba**ards...
I started a big download at 16:00 today - surprise surprise, at 18:00 when I'd normally be unable to connect, my download carried on as normal!
When it finished about 19:30, I was then unable to reconnect :mad2: - but all I have to do is make sure I start downloading something substantial before the cutoff time!!
