Why don't you try <a href="http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7094">2.1.0</a>. It lets leaf nodes have multiple ultrapeer connections.

This is one of the benefits of connecting to an ultrapeer. By not having to handle the normal Gnutella traffic, which can fill up a modem connection, download speeds improve.

Unregistered: those statistics aren't accurate and haven't been for months. In leaf mode, we don't even show them. We hear that users want accurate "horizon counts", but that will have to wait until a new message is introduced to the protocol.

Hey, I am pretty confused about LimeWire too. I have a cable modem and I should be getting much faster downloads. Could someone who knows whats going on here give us a detailed explination for whats up with LimeWire? Are they gonna fix it, or is there even anything wrong!?!?!?

I am completely confused! And reading this thread didnt really help either.

Unregistered dude: Are you running the newest limewire (2.1.1)

If so, then I think the benefits of only having one connection to an ultrapeer dissappear. It's like the old limewire, but you're connected to multiple ultrapeers.

It soaks the bandwidth back up.

My 2 cents!

Keep going on the $0.02 (or the $6.00) and somebody will get rich.

I too was concerned about the statistics, but, given the passion on the thread I thought I'd try to gather some data (novel Idea). Running 2 identical searches from two machines on the same lan, one running 2.0.2 Pro, and the other 1.6 I got similar numbers ( 264 on the new one to 358 on 1.6). I would have loved for the 2.0.2 version to be higher, but oh well. At least it was not a catastrophy.

One more point. Us software design types need to realize that perception is reality. It would likely be a wise idea to change statistics window to somehow indicate the ultrapeer nature of the new network, even if it provides a sample multiplier to the new number to extrapolate what they might have been. Communications helps.

Cheers

Not true. If you're a leaf node, the messaging traffic from ultrapeers should basically be zero, unless possibly you're sharing a TON of files. Exception: you may see a burst of traffic at first as the leaf and ultrapeer exchange some information.

Most likely your bandwidth is being used up by uploads and downloads. If that's not the case, perhaps you're an ultrapeer. You can check this by turning on the connections tab. If you don't want to be an ultrapeer, you can turn it off through Tools -> Options -> Speed.

I'm with Gurm. Who cares what why UltraPeer or not? 2.1 isn't working!!!! Wrong stats Right stats??? How 'bout good ole tried and true results???? I can't find anything anymore and when I do 80% of the time I can't connect or download. Upload/download speeds make it seem as if I'm dialing in through AOL!!!!!!!!!!! I just uninstalled the stupid thing.
