Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban. 13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts. 14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. 15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. ![]() Im running windows xp and have the same problem of only one connection no matter what i number i put in to connect to. This is maddening, I thought I would do my part and contribute my $6 to help keep limewire going only to get a version that is practically useless. |
| |||
![]() I just installed LimeWare 2.0.4 to see what's been made on this network/client since I last checked it out some 9+ months ago. Not much it seems... on the contrary... I feel a lot more limited in both search and connection. I've been a happy user of eDonkey and surely will continue being that! After installing LimeWare 2.0.4 I too didn't get more than one connection to a Ultrapeer. I looked at the official web page for a server list - but nothing to find. Now my client has been online for several hours and I still only have 1 connection. My stats. page tells my I can see 3 hosts with a total of 1 GB online... WOW!!! I share 35+ GB myself and would be happy to share more if I saw this network coming to work! I was coming here to rant about my dislike of LimeWare not being able to download the same file from multiple sources - but I think I will save that story for some other time for now. My 2 cents... |

![]() I too just downloaded 2.0.4 and can only get one connection. If I try to add more I will get a different connection but still only have a total of one connection. I am running Win2K. Also download speeds seem to be really slow (about 5 kb), when I use BearShare I routinely get downloads of 200-300 kb. Is this normal? I would continue to use BearShare but the product is a little unstable on Win2K. Any other good gnutella clients out there? |

![]() You are only supposed to have one connection - to a superpeer who does all of your searching for you to allow the network to scale properly. Try this: Connect. Wait a minute. Search for something. If you don't get any results, disconnect from that superpeer and try again. Eventually, you will get to one with a *very* good connection and can find just about anything. Also, anyone running as a superpeer should raise that '2' at the bottom of the connections window to at least a '4'. |
| |||
![]() While it may be true that you are only supposed to have one connection (though it says this nowhere that I have seen in any documentation), I used to always get upwards of 4 or 5 TB of files to search. Now I am in the low GBs, sometimes MBs! What gives? I want my old version of Limewire back. |
| |||
![]() i too agree that after switching to 2.x, connection speed, number of hosts, number of incoming searches, and number of files found *drastically* were reduced. now i can't reinstall version 18c (mac) which was doing just fine. oh well, seems that no one is answering tech email either. and THIS after i "contributed" $6 to the cause... |
| |||
![]() The number of incoming searches in 2.x (when connected to an ultrapeer) will be lower by design. An ultrapeer will only forward queries to you that are more likely to match the files you are sharing instead of forwarding all queries. Sending fewer queries saves bandwidth. |

![]() I downloaded version 2.0.4 and installed it, but I also only get a max of 4 hosts. Right now, it has dropped to 1 host with 0 files shared. I then decided to pay the $6 and get 2.0.2 pro, but that isn't any better. Version 1.8c was so much better than this one. After searching these forums a bit, I found something that said 2.0 only works with other 2.0 clients. Why would anyone upgrade only to find they can't get any files? If I could find 1.8c again, I would dump 2.0 and install it. Also, the help pages on the Limewire site are for version 1.7! It is hard to find help with these problems when the help pages aren't even up to date with the previous version. |
