It sounds like possably a corrupt java download, &/or L/W Prefs folder prob
First! close L/W completly, then Go,
START/My Computer/local disc C:/ Documents & settings/Your User Name/Application Data
Now Delete the LimeWire Folder.
If you cant find Application Data Folder,GO to Tools/folder Opions,& tick, show hidden folders,
You can put the setting back afterwoods to protect your computer.

note: You will have to reset your, Tools/options in L/W Later.

Now! Go to,
START/Set Program Access/Change or Remove Programs,
now completely remove all versions of java.
Now! Use this Link to get JRE 6 u1 Use the off line installer NOT the (recormended) one,
Java SE Downloads
Disconnect from internet, close ALL apps n reinstall java.

Follow thease instructions exactly.

Dont forget to reset your options in L/W, Licence warning n stuff.
Go to Tools > Options > Searching > Lisence warning and make sure the box is not ticked and then select apply....
Your feedback will help others
Any Problems Shout.
Peace.

Will I loose all my downloads of music and stuff?

Lord of the Rings May 2nd, 2007 11:04 AM

No .. you are only removing Java & your LW prefs folder. Of course i hope you are using the default save location for your LW downloads. :)

I am sure I am, well God I hope so. Liston I wanna thank you

Mickjapa is the one to thank ;)

BTW the default location to find your download folder is C:\Documents and Settings\"your account name"\Shared
However, you may have decided to set the location differently. That's fine so long as it's in a safe location.

I can't find the limewire folder in any of the user files what do I do now?

Lord of the Rings May 2nd, 2007 11:33 AM

I'd suggest you probably didn't search correctly. Did you enable search for HIDDEN files & folders ? Remember to search for limewire not .limewire just in case.

ok I went to my Computer then selected Local Disk (c:) then Documents and settings after that I went to all the user names such as Administrator, Default user, my husbands account, owner, All users, Guest, My account, and some file MSSSerif120 I picked each one of them and picked application data and I never seen limewire in any of them.

Lord of the Rings May 2nd, 2007 12:06 PM

lol no, maybe not. There may be some application data folders that are not hidden. Make sure you selected to show in your search funtion. Follow the instructions here Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.)

Also check the other options in that link.

I would also suggest you reinstall LW. It may have been damaged. Get the "Offline" installer which is the non prefered one. LimeWire: The Official Site for the Fastest File Sharing Program on the Planet The LW installer will uninstall the previous version. ;)
