Angry Please help! Limewire no longer works

Hi,

I posted last night but did not understand the reply I got. I have been using Limewire for the past month or so and have had no problems at all. I've been away for the weekend and come back and now it no longer works. I'm really not a computer person but I have tried the following;

-Uninstalling and re installing both Limewire and java.
-Checked my firewalls in Mcafee and windows xp allow limewire access which both say they do.

I have the following;

Windows XP
Mcaffee security centre
BT Broadband, BT Voyager 220V ADSL
512 MB

If anyone can help, but as I say I'm really not technological at all, so be gentle.

A very sad Mokie.

Not sure if this will work for you or not but...

Try to uninstall Mcfee Security Center.

I have Windows Vista and not Windows XP but uninstalling that made my limewire work.

If I uninstall it, will I have to pay to get it back?

Sorry if I sound stupid.

Thanks to all who helped I'm now back in.

I went into windows control panel, picked the windows firewall icon, selected limewire from the list, clicked add port, entered the name as limewire and put the port number 6346 (as in the limewire advanced firewall section), completed, then closed down limewire and logged back on and now its working!

A happy Mokie again.

Hi Mokie...Don't have 2 firewalls running together as you will have no protection at all...You are better off to disable the Windows firewall all together and just run McAfee security alone...

Also McAfee isn't an issue with XP only Vista...
